Hold onto your hats, ladies and gents. We're supposed to get some serious flakes tonight! Could it be the first big storm of the '09 season? I'm hoping for big, fat sticky snowball snow for that base. I'd love to see some pics of the pow if anybody's got 'em- y'know, spread the stoke around!

Here are the two cam pics I saved. First is Labrador Mountain 30 min south of Syracuse.

Second is WhiteFace. Not sure of the location though.

Wish we would see a foot!

The guys up at Jay are calling for as much as 8-10" between now and Thursday! These reports DID come from the marketing department, but it should still be a pretty significant snowfall, and the first top to bottom coverage of the season. I was thinking about going up for a hike on Thursday, but I .figure I'll save my sick days for bigger storms once the season gets going. (Damn move to the city and real job!) It's supposed to be sunny Friday and rain on Saturday with a high of 38 degrees, but if that drops a bit and it ends up being more snow then is should be a prime weekend to earn some November 1st turns! I may just make the drive up, lets hope it stays cold!

I hate living in London. I wanna move back to NY.

That's an unbelievable post from the Poconos! Trick or Treaters will need to wear snow shoes.

Makes me reflect back to a winter back in the late 60'S up in Western New York when there was snow at the end of October and skiing started the beginning of Nov. that year with no interruption.

My friend txt'd me the other day saying how at her place (PA) she already had 5" and it was still coming down...I got so jealous.

I can remeber a few years back when you inhabited snow and vertical starved W. Pa. and you posted some video of hiking for some turns with your Metrons out at Hidden Valley!

How many years ago was that now? I didn't think to check the Springs website this AM. Going to be in the high 50's Friday & Sat here in town.

that would be october 25th 2005 the wilma snowicane.

this wouldnt be enough to ski on. that day had 12 inches plus of really heavy snow.

it's snowing lightly right now in Stowe, but the change over from rain didn't happen until around 9pm last night. I'd say 3" on my car this morning, that could mean 6" or so higher up on Mansfield... maybe.

Jaypowhound: That should be illegal. Seriously, though, great stuff. You guys are really getting me pumped to ski. I only have about two more months and off to alta for a week

Yea, unfortunately its not me. Photo of the day off the website, posted by a couple guys who hiked yesterday. I couldn't get away from work today or tomorrow, and unfortunately I am working here in MA all weekend too so it looks like I'm not going to get to ski in October, and I'm probably going to miss this snow all together.

I'll be heading north next weekend on the 8th, maybe there will still be some left (or some new?) by then. We'll see.
