I was just bored today so...

I was going to perform the usual (for me) Saturday afternoon chores like go to the petrol station and fill the tank for the coming week, go to the store and buy the ingredients to cook "homemade" pizza (I know I usually make the pizza starting from the flour but I wasn't really up to it today...a bit of october depression I guess...)..but then I remembered that one of the local shops (our kind of shops I mean), part of a French chain called xxxxxx, which mostly sells entry level stuff was carrying on a "used equipment sale" (sort of yard sale, but the people bring the stuff they don't want anymore there, they price it and try to sell it) and it was the last day...
On opening day some skis were there, some interested me just for the bindings but the prices weren't out, yet..so I left and nearly forgot...Today, while driving around...I remembered and asked myself...why not?
So I dropped by and after a bit of looking decided that two skis interested me...
Being in Italy what d'you expect ? Well, of course the mainstream ski bought in shores are still the GS skis (tide is changing, slowly but surely though)...
Ski pair number one :
Salomon 2V 188 cm with Salomon 912 and riser plates for 50 € (then since it was the last day the price off another 20%, so the paid price has been 40 €
Ski pair number two :
Stockli Laser GS in 188 cm w/ Look bindings for...30 Euro
price 20% off here as well...24€ !!!

So, what the heck...for 64 € I bought two (well) used pairs of ski which I think I'll use for rock skiing and for my kids (they're young but they're as big as me and at least the older one, heavier)
Only doubt, I know I'l be albe to work on the Solly to adjust to the boots lenght but I'm not so sure what I'll be able to do on the Looks...

What a choice!

Make pizza/ski swap/make pizza/ski swap.

BTW I have 184cm 2Vs and 165cm 4800s in a swap today, for $20 and $40 respectively, figure nothing will sell until 3pm (free admission -and- 20% off). Those things really don't keep much value do they?

Ooof.

How much were they asking for the groin muscles to work those properly?

Your post made me think of this article
http://www.rockandice.com/inthemag.php?id=28&type=tnb
which, if you can stand the too-smug prose, does manage to convey a useful point: Inspiration of the moment can restore long-term passion if you indulge in both fully and in their time. Interesting.

Probably dangerous to use around girls tho.

Eh Comprex
my kids demand that I make pizza on the Saturday evenings we're together so...
Anyway...
2Vs in 184 cm for 20$ ? 165 cm 4800 ? For 40 $ ? Why aren't you here...I thought I'd had a good deal but now I feel cheated!!! ;-)

Stoclki in 188...

Oh well, coming from 198 cm P40F1...I think some of those muscles are still there, somewhere...and if not...I'll have to make do!!! I wonder what will my older one do when he'll try to ski either one of those...Not to mention the younger one...ahr ahr ahr
Still if the skis will reveal to be un-useable (edges too worn out or core too weakened by use) I do hope that I'll be able to do something with the bindings

BTW, that article..it's really interesting!!! A good read in a warm saturday evening...(20 C deg today...not a cloud in sight, no snow flavour in the air...)
As for girls...no swap sale for diamonds, sigh...

Cheated? No, no, you should see what I priced the Metrons at, you're not the one being cheated here...

Seriously, ski them in good health.

That is one set of skis I would love to have in an amateur 24 hour race or something, when you're going full-speed in a slow-brain zone.

Oh, and so to speak I now officialy have (again) a ski quiver (three GS skis more or less of the same generation...hahahah)
My old one was composed of 2xP9 205 cm and one K2 SL 204 cm...
what a progress...

Back in 2000, I said the sammmmmmmmme thing.

Coming from P-40 F1's (193 & 188) .....

How can I miss with a 178 Stockli GS ..

Of course I paid a few dollar$ more ...

Those were the old blue ones ... I think the later red ... were a bit softer and user friendly.

Hey Mr N, I've got a pair of midfat Atomics (Sweet Daddy, 172 cm) I'm trying to sell. If you're looking for something in the 80mm underfoot range, they're in great shape, with bindings. Think I was asking 150 euros for them at the end of last year. If you want to try them one day at Made, let me know. If you liked them I'd sell them to you for 100. Only if you're looking, no pressure.

Meah, all those GS skis are pretty soft and easy to use.

Coming from a one-ski quiver of Kästle Super-G, until I went modern a few years ago.

Good find, but you only needed one pair.
