Dalbello Krypton

I was offered a deal on a new pair of Dalbello Rampage and am not sure if I should take them or not. I have been on the same pair of Rachile Flexon Extremes for the last 15 years and am getting tired of re-building them ever season. I was looking to get the Dalbello Kryptons but they just cost too much. Does anyone know if the Rampages are comparable to my old Rachiles or are they too soft? Also dose anyone know of a deal on a new or used pair of 27.5 Kryptons? Any thoughts or suggestions would help. Thanks.

First, Welcome to Epic a great site. Some of the boot guys will see your post shortly and you will get a good response I'm sure. Sorry I can't help you, tried the Kryptons last year and didn't like the fit, feel or flex so bought some Nordicas.

Before the Boot Guys see this post your age, weight and skiing ability and where and what you like to ski and it may save some time for a good answer.

Again, Welcome to Epic.

Thanks Pete. I'm 47 and have been skiing on and off for the last 20 years. The last 4 years more than ever. I'm 5'10" 185lbs and ski mostly in the trees or bumps. I ski week-ends at Jay VT or Sutton QC and try to get out to Whistler every spring.

I was in Flexons for 20 years and Kryptons for the last 5. Keep an eye out for used ones, they are around. FWIW, the Krypton shell measures 5mm longer than a Flexon, so if you were in a 301, you will now be in a 306.

Thanks Phil. I tried on the Kryptons and the 275 seemed just right.

The Krypton is a Flexon on steroids. I would suggest finding either some thermoflex or Intuition (ID) liners.

So if I am used to, and like the Flexon would I not be better suited with the Rampage? Just a thought...

Rampage, Cross or even a Pro set up in the soft setting, you will be fine.

Wrong side of your country but try:

http://www.swiss-sports-haus.com/

These guys are Flexon freaks and bought up loads of pairs when production ceased. I bought a pair of Flexon Pro T's from them about 4 or 5 years ago now. They may possibly have some left or can certainly fit you out with some FullTilt equivalents.

Flexons still come up on Ebay a lot too. When I was still skiing them, I stock piled quite a few pair for myself and family.

I have found that FT and Kryptons fit similar but not the same. FT = lower volume, lighter.

If you want the exact feel as your old racihles then get the FT. Should be some dealers in your area? or PM me, I'm in alberta, and I have them in stock.

My Flexon still have some life in them, it just that I'm getting tired of re-building them at the start of every season. Also, the sore feet at the end of the day, as my feet are very wide. I tried on a pair of the Kryptons and liked the feel, just not the price. A guy who worked at the shop offered me his one year old Rampages, and said that they were more like my Flexons than the Kryptons. Not sure if he was just looking out for his own best interest or not...

Thanks for the advice. What do you figure a pair of FT's would set me back?

At the risk of upsetting any passing boot fitter I should point out that FullTilt offer a full range of spare parts that will be compatible with your Flexons. See their website under 'accessories'.

Maybe you just need to replace those parts you're having problems with.

Altis: you can order from the site, or from any FT dealer.

captain: $500 CND for the konflicts. (plus GST + shipping) That is the top end boot, 2 tongues, etc...
