Snowing in Montana

It started snowing in Billings tonight with 1-2 (or more) feet expected in the mountains by Sunday.gotta love it!

.A MOIST LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL DEVELOP OVER SOUTHERN IDAHO
TONIGHT AND REMAIN OVER THE REGION THROUGH THE WEEKEND. SNOW
WILL DEVELOP ACROSS SOUTHWEST MONTANA AND SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF
CENTRAL MONTANA OVERNIGHT AND CONTINUE TO AFFECT THE REGION INTO
SUNDAY AFTERNOON.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GREAT FALLS HAS ISSUED A WINTER
STORM WARNING FOR SNOW AND WINDS...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM
MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 6 PM MDT SUNDAY. THE WINTER STORM WATCH HAS
BEEN REPLACED BY THIS WARNING.
SNOW WILL DEVELOP ACROSS SOUTHWEST MONTANA AND SOUTHERN PORTIONS
OF CENTRAL MONTANA TONIGHT AND WILL CONTINUE TO AFFECT THE REGION
THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON. IN ADDITION...BRISK NORTH TO NORTHEAST
WINDS OF 15 TO 25 MPH WILL CAUSE AREAS OF BLOWING SNOW AT
TIMES...ESPECIALLY IN THE MOUNTAINS AND THROUGH FAVORED CANYONS
AND GAPS. BY SUNDAY AFTERNOON EXPECT 4 TO 8 INCHES OF SNOW
ACCUMULATION AT LOWER ELEVATIONS...WITH 15 TO 30 INCHES OF SNOW
POSSIBLE IN THE MOUNTAINS.

thanks for the weather report! appreciate it and it gets the juices flowing for the upcoming season.

the above post re: no pictures is "worthless"! do you think this guy lives in a "hut" in the hills?? so STUPID from a Know It All!

We have about 6" of wet snow on the ground in Billings-Red Lodge has 10" with much more in the mountains (Beartooth Pass closed for season). This bodes well for the Red Lodge Ski Area...they need a good start. More snow throughout tomorrow.

40 for RL

The town of RL is reporting 40" the last 24 hr-

Billings ended up with 22"-we had a nice snowshoe outing this am

The trees still have their leaves, and lots of branches are coming down

October 12-pretty crazy.

We all know it will warm up and melt away down here-but perhaps RL will get the start of an early season base for a change.
