What is the best ski movie ever made? I would like to hear all of your opinions. I will add my input later

The Blizzard of AAHHH's by Greg Stump
OK, not a ski movie, but without a doubt the best ski sequence, in my humble opinion, and I have been known to voice my humble opinion on it before, but my favourite combines action with music with the audience's anticipation of the next couple of hours of entertainment, gadgets, cars (in this case, a Lotus Esprit), oh, and the ocassional pretty woman...

Yes, you guessed it. Yellow one piece ski suit. Red backpack containing Union Jack parachute. Carly Simon on piano. John Barry and Monty Norman influences in the background. Ken Adams on the set design. Albert Broccoli producing. Lewis Gilbert directing. Barbara Bach as XXX (the original triple X was a woman, for all of you who went to the movies recently).
When it comes to a ski sequence, I guess you could say that Nobody does it better.
Could I eulogise any further about TSWLM?

a couple instantly come to mind:

1)Blizzard of Ahhs

*2) ...shown occasionally on RSN's "Movie Nights", the film pro-
duced back in the ??? 30's?, 40's?...Help AnYoNe...featuring Hannes Schneider and "others..?" will never grow old for me.
I've forgotten the title and other skiers, but the skiing on the
100% wooden skis, old bindings & boots....is so enjoyable to watch.
With the equipment being what it was...the skier's actions are at a pace where you can truly feel all the edging and balancing while watching it.

White Ecstasy (The Ski Chase), 1931. Hannes Schneider, Leni Riefenstahl, and others. Reportedly, the two didn't get along during the filming. When Riefenstahl went on to make propaganda films for Hitler, she convinced the Nazis to arrest Schneider. At least that's the way Schneider said it happened.

You can still order White Ecstasy from the New England Ski Museum.

I think it was a Greg Stump film - with a really dumb name - but, the ski and snowboard scenes in "Requiem in the Key of Ski" that were shot in Alaska with Seal playing in the background really do it for me.

As far as ski movies go, Blizzard of Ahhs is certainly the bar by which all ski movies should be measured. However, TGR's The Prophecy has to be the best ski porn I have ever seen. It has it all. Skiing boarding, jib culture, awesome backcountry segments, and of course an homage to Mr. Schmidt himself. Check it out if you haven't already.

Immersion is the best recent ski movie. (The Prophecy was excellent though, as well) And Blizzard of Aahhs is the classic best ski movie.

"happy dayz" is the best newschool flick...but sadly, there are few people on this site who appreciate jibbing.

Oh, Adema,

I appreciate jibbing . . . . I just can't do it .

Correct! Jibbing is not skiing. That's why they call it Jibbing.

For ski porn the best that I've seem is Freerider by WM. It was the first one that I bought, and still gets alot of play. Would like to see AHHHS, but in time. Best ski moive....SKI BUMS. some porn, but more about why we ski; the zen of the mountain, the orgasmic feeling of deep pow, and the power of the mountain that in a blink of an eye that can take one of us like Trevor Peterson. I've mentioned this movie enough times that to some it would seem like spam. It's just that this movie to me is the best peice that has ever been made. In the true spirit of this flick you can't just go and buy it, you need to 'procure it'. Beg a copy off of a buddy and never return it, steal (borrow)it off the satilite, rent it and never return it (don't forget to change your phone number!!), or have all your buddies throw all the change in after the pizza, beer and pot and purchase (five finger) a copy. Blizzard of AAAHHHs has to be the defining movie for a generation of skiers and upped the ante for everyone. Has to be my favourite...

Followed by a great NZ film, The Leading Edge, which starred Bruce Grant and Mathurin Molgat as ski bums in the South Island...

Followed by that seminal epic that saw Hollywood launch its assault on the ski movie market, Aspen Extreme.

Blizzard is awesome, I have a bootlegged copy right here, looks like crap though (VHS : ) I also have freeriders, fifty, snow riders 1 and 2, and cold fusion (purchased) and i must say, they do get regular rotation.

I got the ski jones so bad that for a little something new, I actually re-watched TOKO waxing instructions VHS and an outdated warren miller ski instruction flick. Got to get my ski-fix somehow,

BUT anyways back on topic, BLIZZARD REWLS!!!!!!!
