Oboe - I DID NOT reveal my age except to say that with 50 skiing days, I exceeded my age by skiing more than my goal. Hah!

Ott,

Oh yeah. If you don't keep count, you don't know how far you've been or how far you have to go!

For the record, I'm at 68.
30 or so at Vail/Beav
About that many at Copper
Aspen
Fernie
Abasin
Loveland

Oh yes....and then there was milk.
The epic day at Highlands
The epic day at Vail

Still have a few more days left at the Basin, I'll be there tomorrow!

Cheers,

Hmmm, that's something we never did. Oh, I could say here and there, like a couple of weeks in Europe and three weeks out west, but the three or four days weekly around here and the odd midweek vacation in NY or PA we never counted.

I can tell you that I've skied over 56 years, though.

Every now and then I see someone with 20-30 tickets on one bail, reaching from their upper jacket pocket to their belt, and sometimes three bails full of tickets, they must really think that's impressive :

I am with you Ott. I don't keep track, but I know I skied 1 day at Deer Valley, and 2 at Alta, then it becomes fuzzy. Maybe 15 at Bachelor and another 12 - 15 at Mt. Hood Meadows. Not bad for a working stiff with a family, wife, dog and rabbit. And no, My lift tickets do not hang in large clumps from my zipper pulls. I own a pair of wire cutters. I own cutters too.

8 days at Sundown in Iowa
They didn't even open till after New Years.

And one trip to "Fun Valley", which I took 2 runs down, pushing myself with my poles all the way down. It was so FLAT, it made Fox's Milton Keynes look like Eiger!! They refused to give me my $20 back.

Iowa Sucks.

I have skied a bit fat zero this year, but my season is just coming up. I cannot believe the number of days some of you guys get to ski. I think I am doing well to get in 20 days.

I am moving closer to the snow and will be able to do day trips, instead of weekends with over a 3 hour drive both ways. Problem is I have taken the opportunity to got to France and London for most of September, so I'll miss out on 3 weeks of spring skiing down under. What choices we have to make in life!

Sorry to "Gangl" up on you Ott, but I have not, and will never ski a triple-figure season. The fact that I almost reached 30 ski days this year is incredible to me, seeing that I have a full-time job with a miserable 13 vacation days a year.

The reason that I keep track of my ski days is that when I'm not skiing (both during the season and off-season), I look at my list, think back to that particular day, and remember almost everything about it. And if I have a trail map around, I can relive almost every run. I don't know about the rest of you, but I can sit and look at trail maps ALL DAY LONG, particularly if the ski area is big and complicated. I do the same thing with great mountain bike rides and hikes, but to a slightly lesser extent. (Tut mir leid, wenn das ein bißchen lächerlich klingt, aber du hast gefragt.)

Your point was well-taken about the bozos who collect lift tickets on their jackets, but I don't think that us epicski "day counters" should be thrown in that pot.

Oh James, I never meant to judge day counters one way or other, including the folks with the long ticket bail, I just meant that we never counted our days.

If it weren't for Ann keeping somewhat of a log and putting pictures in an album, we'd never settle disputes between us as to where what happened and when. I'm forever insisting that we did this or that at one place and we have to go back to the log and I'm often surprised how ski experiences and places melt together.

Just the other day Ann showed me a sunset picture I took and I knew that I took it in Santa Fe until she took out the album and there was a dupe shot and it was taken from Swan Mountain Rd going from Breckenridge to Keystone.

And having all those shortcomings myself how could I possible criticise someone for their own pleasures.

Trailmaps are fun, especially since most of the time I don't pay attention to the names of the slopes I ski and when we talk about some, I need to look them up, I have about a hundred or so from areas we skied. ...and I should talk about ticket hoarders :

Ott, I don't keep track of how many days I ski just to impress someone.
I keep count because I'm happy to have reached that many...
Back in my youth, when I was skiing around 30 dd/year, I never kept count, after all, I had all the time I wanted...an entire life.
Nowadays, when I reach the end of the season, and look back at the ticket, and see that I've gone as far as 11 days, well, I'm really happy.
BTW, I do not need a wire cutter, I have a Swatch Access clock.

Got somwhere between 80 and 90...
7@ Trysil, Norway
75+@ Fernie, BC, CND
2@ Westcastle mountain, AB, CND
It's the most I ever skied in a season. But it made me more convinced then ever that it's not about the number of days, it's about how the days are...
Ande except from Trysil, cold and icy, most of them have been great!

Um, well I got to Colorado on December 19th and was on snow the next day. My last day on snow was april 28th. I had 2 days off sick...and at that point, the maths become too hard (I am innumerate).

my best season was Oz 2000, I got 75 days skiing, and I had a fulltime job (in an OFFICE 170kms from the snow). Some of those days were Tele and AT before and after the season.
