To you? It's *very snooty accent* VAHN-ah-bay. Unless you're offering something, in which case it's anything you want.

I'm thirsty -- I think I'll go get a "latt" with extra "expresso"

LOL...that reminds me:

Anyone remember those Freixinet ads? The ones where they made a big deal about the x being pronounced "sh"? It was those ads that caused my friends and I to say "Eshperts Only" whenever we see an "Experts Only" sign in a ski area...

That is one worth remembering ...!!

I thought it was kess-lee.

It may well be. I just parrot what I hear for the most part or if I meet a rep or something.

My favorite that I screwed up was the old "Authier" skis ...

Arth-eeeee-errs ..... versus ... the correct O-T-a

Lacroix looks like La-Croy-x to me .. but the literati .. La-Kwaaa

They should include the proper pronunciation with all of the product literature .... CAUTION: mispronunciation of our funny foreign name may result in the assignation of GAPER status to the offending party. The company does not assume any liability for the public humiliation .....

Hey! My chain saw had a warning about not using it by your genitals. Cover all bases is my motto.

Hell, did you ever notice how many people put their heads down and mutter and kinda' slur the foreign names?

I have no idea how to say Rossignol.

Kaestle = kess-leh

The e at the end is sort of a schwa sound. The a-umlaut can be either be the vowel sound in "head" or it can be a long 'a' like the 'a' in "came" depending on what it's surrounded by...in this case, it's like the vowel sound in "head".

Hard to transliterate, but the closest seems to me "Ross-ee-nyol" (the "ee" is short and the "nyol" is one syllable).
Exactly! Now to get it all proper like some snooty guy in a French restaurant who is giving you "the dis" ..

Practice the ny part of the nyol as if you were a little kid snorting milk through his nose.

Wouldn't know about that! It's like the "gn" in "lasagne". Not difficult.
