Late November skiing near Munich, is it worth it? - Page 2

I just called Obertauern tourist info. Obertauern will open on Monday 24th Nov as per telecon. Generally speaking: If Obertauern is not opened yet you need to go to the glaciers. Kitzsteinhorn or Tyrol.

Kitzsteinhorn looks a little difficult for the weekend:

Be prepared for -20° on the glacier with snow and wind. Heavy wind today and I assume also on the weekend could cause problems with the lift. Hardcore!

Tuxer similar. Heavy snow on Saturday but Sunday looks better. Not as cold as Kitzsteinhorn with just -10° on the glacier.

Hope this helps...

Best regards

I'd still go for stubai then
more gondola's to keep warm in, more chair lifts (with the same possibility )

but on Saturday the wheater will improve (a bit) and Sunday will be... sunny

I'm here in and the mountain is closed due to winds!! With a meter of fresh snow at the base, it would have been epic!

I'm trying to change my flights so that I can ski a full day tomorrow.

Now THAT's what I would call bad luck, sorry.

Oh man do I hope you were able to get after that on Sunday. It looks awesome. That base station in your second photo wasn't there when I visted two years ago, by the way.

I guess to look on the bright side, there are worse places to have to spend a day than Innsbruck.

It's too bad Axamer Lizum hasn't opened yet. That would have been perfect (and more immune to any wind closure).
