Alpine Circus

I just found this book by Michael Finkel, called Alpine Circus. He describes his experiences skiing in unusual places such as Iran and China. I skimmed through it, and there is an amusing chapter on Mad River Glen.
Has anyone read this?

Well I don't think you'd be able to go skiing with that special someone since the slopes are segregated male/female I think.

I've passed that book by but never looked at it.

Its actually highly informative and readable. I never knew that the ski areas were built under the Shah. Then when the Ayotollahs took power, they wanted it to be abolished, but somehow it survived,

Not only are the slopes segregated, but if a woman is not wearing a coat that goes below her knees, she has to wear a skirt over her ski pants! Skiers in Iran are considered to be some of the most educated people, but they also have a reputation for being trouble makers.

He writes about the chairlifts in China: HORSES!!! I'd be in big trouble since horses are the only animal that don't seem to like me.

I'm currently on the chapter about the Marine Core Mountain Warfare Center.
