Just got my new equipment (10.ex,614,BR 9.50) today, Utah just got a major dumping, and I leave tomorrow for a week in Cancun. Man I want to switch my plans....

I'd offer you some sympathy, but... Nahh.

Have fun in Cancun

Yeah I can feel the love..

Normally I wouldn't complain about a free trip to Cancun, but with my new boots and boards showing up today along with the storm, i would gladly give it up for the same week in utah.

That sucks, but its still good in building up the base for your triumphant return.

And while we're on the subject, has anyone else noticed that the things Alanis Morissette lists as ironic in her song "Isn't it Ironic" do not represent irony? For some reason, that still bugs me. Sorry for the digression.

You got the right picture whichever way you look!

OK, if we are trying to outdo each other in unfortunate situations (not irony) then beat this:
I live in Ireland (no skiing here)
Just bought K2 Axis X Pros (the only pair of them in Ireland)
Season Pass for Winter Park (it's cheaper than buying a 2 week pass)
And my boss has just cancelled all my holiday time for January - March.
Option 1: cry :
Option 2: change job
Now what would you do?

P.S. Anybody know where a JD Edwards OneWorld Developer could get a job near a ski slope?

Aren't JDE based in Colarado?
Yeah - Head office is in Denver, but they aren't recruiting, and I only work for a company that does consultancy in JDE & SAP. But thanks for the thought. Any other suggestions?

I think they might have an office in Bothell,
Washington, too. Probably not hiring...

You must tell your boss to stuff it and use that WP pass as much as possible till they shut the joint down in the spring.

Seriously, I've met a lot of Brits (not Irish nor Scots but...) on lifts at Winter Park. Does the area market aggresively in Europe? I've had people tell me they have skied all over Europe and the US and they chose WP for the ski school for their kids as well as for the snow.

Up until this year, WP hasn't done that much marketing. I got introduced to the place a few years ago, after sking my way round Europe. Last year there was about 60 in our group.
So, what has it got that we don't have in Europe?
1. Guaranteed snow, and lots of it. I've rock skiied in Austria in February, but never had that problem in WP.
2. No Queues (sorry, lines). Last year mod week two of us spent an afternoon on Vasquez Ridge (mainly blues, but a couple of good black bump runs) We were the only ones on the mountain.
3. Ice not nice. WP = Powder
4. It's not too expensive. (2 weeks in WP cost me less than 1 week in Val d'Isere)
5. Short transfer time from DIA
6. Vasquez Cirque
7. It's full of people there to ski, not to pose.
8. The germans haven't discovered it yet, so there's no pushing on the lift lines.
9. The craic's 90.

Do you want any more reasons?

I'm no accountant. I'm a lion tamer.

I'm actually an engineer who got caught up in computers 7 years ago, the year before I discovered skiing.

As for the craic in WP, I guess it's all down to who you're with. I was going to list it as my number 1 reason, but reckoned a lot of the people on the list wouldn't know what it was.

Anyway, I'm in good form today, cause I'll be in Whistler in a week, and it looks like it's dumping down.
Hopefully I'll have a new job before I go, so I might get to WP after all.
