New race boots in 290/295

Hi
I'm looking for a race boot in 290/295, it should be at least 150 in flex index (my old Atomic 140 is too soft).
Fit should be similar to Atomic RT CS, but not Atomic.....
Fischer Soma RC4 WC PRO 150?
Lange WC160?
Garmont G1 150?
Any good tips?

Just curious,

What size street shoe do you wear, how tall are you, and how much do you weigh, did the boots you now have seem stiffer when new?.

My feet are 295mm long = US 12.5
196cm high
100kg
The old ones was NOT stiff enough when new, I feel that I need more when racing SL.
mntlion - There isn't too many bootfitters around in Sweden, have to travel something like 670km to get to the ones that I trust, and it's not done right now...

if your feet measure 295 then chances are you would be in a 285 in most race boots that you have mentioned, i measure just over 29 and ski in a 285 with no modifications for length [only width for my flipper] if i was willing to spend a load more time working on a boot and was skiing hard all season [rather than just a few weeks] then i could at a push go down to 275 in certain models

at 100 kg a 140 flex should not be too soft, however the atomic 140 feels [to me anyway] a little softer than others i have tried

if your foot is in a boot a bit big then you will not have full contact with the shell and it can do weird things with the flex,

how much space is there behind your heel when you do a shell check?

Right now I have like 7mm on the right and 5mm on the left when in the shell barefoot.
I tried the Doberman and there I hit the big toe when I try the shells on a pair of UK9 (should be 285).
According to Lange they have 295 in WC160 and Fischer should be the same.
Is the new Lange similar in fit as Atomic RT?

then your foot must meaure more than 295 on a brannock

unless you have a wide foot and you are unable to get all the way to the front of the shell

the new lange wc160 is in a 92mm last the RT from atomic comes in either CS 98mm last or TI 95mm or STI 92mm last

being as you had a 140 it would be a CS [98mm] as they don't make the TI in that flex...so the new lange is quite a lot narrower... from what i remember [out the office right now so i can't check the tech manual] lange only make the 97mm version up to 140 flex i may be wrong]

It's my heels that makes it complicated.
And it's much easier to fix the with on the boots, so I could live with that they're narrow.
Do you know what the sole length for Lange WC160?

oh, i ahve seeb the G1 ...not many people sell it here though
post #12 of 15
No G1, explain?
What can you tell us about the G1?
to answer the original poster question the G1 is available in the uk but the garmont distributor was not pushing it, in fact i seem to remember that they did not even have it on display at the trade show last year, from what i remember they had the shaman [softer freeride style] on display.....one interesting feature from the ones i have seen was the pocket in the shell for the inner ankle bone and navicular...for more information the fountain of all knowledge who is SMALLZOOKEEPER is bound to be able to fill us all in
