You guys are making this too damn easy....
I feel like I need to comment on the "gear whore" posts. I'm 22. Up until I was 15 or so I was skiing thrift shop/garage sale straight skis and boots. In 2000, I was given a pair of 203 cm Salomon drivers which I used for a season, and I finally got new boots-Size 12. The next year I, for my Xmas/b-day gift, I was allowed to pick out a pair of Blizzard SC18 skis (foam core). I skied these until the 2006/2007 season, including a winter of instructing. They were DEAD.
I bought new boots (size 10) as leftovers in March of 2006, then the Metrons in the fall. That was the first new and correct fitting gear I have ever had or picked out myself. Call me what you want, but I currently have 2 pairs of skis, 1 that I built with my own hands.
I might be a "gear whore" or teach head, but I tend to get good use out of what I have. This thread was also about selling one ski to buy another, so whatever...
