Arlberg:Lech?Zurs?St.Anton?Stuben? - Page 4

if EUR/USD fx rate does not ease up soon, the return trip to Austria (Lech-Zurs, friends at the Hotel Montana, skiing with buds like Klaus M for my boy etc) for next spring could be prohibitively steep, and that would be such a darned shame..and Europe does want the EUR to fall, its killing their industries, especially the exporting giants of Germany and surrounding environs..

dude, coming from Manhattan to lech-zurs is a worthwhile trek, and I absolutely want to do it with my boy especially given the hospitality of the folks but the dollar is killing the joy! but lets see how things pan out.

OK, I'll agree to let the Euro drop over the winter, but it needs to shoot right back up again before my annual summer trip back to the states. It's gotten to where I fly over with two empty suitcases and just enough underware to last me a couple days.

It still blows me away that the Dollar and Swiss Franc are at parity. Unbelievable.

Just remember what Warren Miller always says. If you don't do it this year...

The Arlberg is a great area to visit. Fly to Zurich and take the train over. On a nice day, the train ride alone is almost worth the expense of the whole trip, at least for Americans who aren't used to train rides through the mountains (like me).

I took the train from St. Anton to Munich on a bluebird day at the end of my trip last January. Fantastic stuff in the mountains.

Agreed with all encouragement, we did it April 09, it may be Alta again this year for Easter with my boy, we just got back from there, its beautiful and the Alta Lodge was terrific with my son. USD/EUR fx is a big factor and all these bullsh*t excessive security arrangements now add 6 hours to round-trip journey, makes its a huge slog compared to sliding into salt lake city.

that is an awesome video, man are you good with an RC aircraft, I crashed our heli a few times in upstate ny while running it with my son. what you are doing is almost as good as someone with a ppl!

arlberg is still iffy, son wants to go but cost factors(Euro is still much too strong) and this whole new security jazz because of that nigerian sob and the brit one before him makes me want to puke since it is so exasperating. security is a fact of life but these mutts win when we change our way of life but that is the price of freedom sometimes..as they say in NH "live free, or die", well, i'd rather live free period.

anyway, still a toss-up
