It also looks like Alpine Meadows Palisades.

GOT IT!

Interesting that a lot of the guesses were in California--maybe something about the snow consistency causes certain kinds of steep entrances to form off the ridges? I know I've looked at lots of pics of Kirkwood and thought "that looks just like Mammoth."

Easy East Coast.

Easy in many ways.

I don't know where it is, but it sure looks tasty!

[Edit--this is just from pictures, I haven't been there, but is it one of the Baldy chutes at Alta?]
Not Baldy chutes, but a similar kind of run in that it is a short hike & it starts just outside the area boundary.

Same run:

It does sort of look like those.

Not quite tho.

That's a hut under the trees to the left, and a lake on the right. In the hills left of the lake is another ski area, with night skiing.

2 hours driving from NY, maybe 90 minutes by snowmobile during a deep freeze.

25 minutes from VT.

Josh, you are welcome to come along anytime. I think I will have a new posse this year though, so we will probably be starting from scratch.

Along with your other clue about NY/Vt border I will guess Mt. Sutton and the ski area in the distance that has night skiing I think might be Owls Head? The Lake is Memphremagog.

Bromont?

The lake is actually Lac Brome

Since I haven't made any correct guesses I don't deserve to post a photo, but didn't want this fun thread to die.
