Yup, drove up the toll roll and stopped at that little lot at the top of star.
I've only skied the snowfields at loaf a couple times but you can ski the backside and there's a traverse to the right that then brings you right out at the top of Kingpine like you say. It's not a really a hike, it's got just enough pitch to move, less than the spillway xcut but still its mostly a schuss. So I think that shot is just a little bit further around toward the front. The "backside" is called High Rigger on the map and the traverse out is called Hard Tack. There's a couple more routes down between there and the front side.
