Bushwacker you're a ski instructor--holy crap!I have lurked this forum since Hellauvaskier was lowly a freshman. (what ever happend to him, by the way, --he was endearing in his own know it all way) In all that time--I just dont understand where this narrow minded, "anti-casual skier" attitude comes from, and its not just limited to Bushwacker. Not everybody chooses to be a 50 day a year skier, not every body owns the perfectly aged, ducked taped, gore tex shell that marks them as a true man of the mountain. Of all people, a ski instructor with that kind of attitiude..I dont get it.
Candidly, I would have to say its strikes me as jelousy.
Personally, I live in the mid atlantic region, I contribute to society in deep ways, I donate to charity. Alta is my favorite ski area--it's almost a religous experience to me. But I dont think it could ever considered the top ski area in the country overall--its just too lacking in overall services--that may not be important to me or you--but it is important to the gerenal skiing public. And that public should be embraced --not scorned.
Bushwacker--I dont know you and I am sure you can spell. And I dont want to waste my time with any personal back and forth. I just hope that if , in fact, you are a ski pro, that your attitude represents a marginal fringe...I would hate to think that next time I paid good money for a private--that the instructor was secretly loathing me...because my gear was too pricey. If that is the case, I'd feel very bad ski instructors every where; seem slike a crapy way to live. Oh and by the way, I dont quite suck...
