However, in 49 days at about this time I will be sitting in a bar in Tignes planning my first run of the season on the glacier, and in 72 days I will be getting off the plane at SLC and making my way up to my condo in Park City ...
Sounds like a good life...please have a fondue for me and good luck with the snow gods- last year they were playing golf in PC in late November and it was too warm to even make snow.

Well... I hate to burst anyone's bubble, but at this moment, I'm working at the Breck Welcome Center, observing the nightmare known as Oktoberfest, and it's about 65 degrees. You can still see the snow, though.

Snow forecast

I know it's still early, and i also know that long range forecasts are not very "reliable"...

But has anyone seen any long range forecast to the rockies?
I heard people saing that this coming winter will be cold and snowy, especially in the east... but i didn't hear anything about the mountain areas

tks

Quick turn around here, back to 89 this afternoon...so at best the mountains were in the 60s.

It's not bad! I play off my fun time teaching in PC against my not fun time working 90 hours a week in London to pay for it.

I know what you mean about November - I was in Tignes/Zermatt all that month last year, looking at the weather reports and thinking I'd find mud when I got there.

Landed late on December 5 and it started snowing as we drove up from SLC. Didn't stop until after I left - on April 30!

Fingers crossed.

By the way, faisasy ... stunningly beautiful picture. Beats looking out the window at a row of terrace houses!

Um, how come I never saw you last season? Well except that day at the Basin. Hmmm, we'll have to change that this year I'd say. I'm there every Saturday coaching and lot's of Sunday free ski days.

The bad news: the newspaper just reported that airfares are expected to be 30 - 40% higher this year..........

One of my clients just called from Canada. Asked how the weather was yada yada. I told him I wanted it to be colder and you could just hear the shock in his voice. He asked why to which I of course answered simply "I want to ski".

What impresses me about the live cams from A-Basin is that days later the snow is still on the upper parts of the mountain. That is a very good sign.

I figured the snow would get you all jazzed. Thought I’d pop in and say hi. Hope everyone is well.
