well since I think I might like to work on bikes as much as I like to ride them this is the thread for my new project. should be done and rideable in a week or 2.

My first MTB i ever bought, which I used for fireroad riding, road riding, dirt jumping and the once in a blue moon singletrack adventure then used it for getting back into my current phase in 06 by beating it up for a couple hundred miles on western Pa singletrack.

I was going to sell it, but more research provided this is a handbuilt steel frame made by schwinn in boulder, colorado. its also has 1 1/8 headtube and would except a modern suspension fork to slacken out its current 72.5 degree head tube and make the front end alittle taller. Also it could be welded to accept a rear disc if I want as well.

So here the before picture Id imagine Ill have the SS conversion done this weekend, new fork/stem/handlebars/brakes done early next week and any other odds and end by next weekend.

It should makes the easier less hilly trails around way more fun.

so here is before and expect how to on each step

yep I am building up a schwinn

asysmetrical chain stays...

TC

its going to be just a run of the mill single speed built as cheaply as possiable. using whats good on the bike and buying some more modern parts like a 100 mm fork and cantilever brakes over the straight pulls
