PSA: Black Diamond Softshells $27 at Costco

Black Diamond Softshells are $27 at Costco. Decent quality, worth much more than $27.

we got some last weekend. great deal.

Just an FYI, that's a different Black Diamond from the company that makes all the cool climbing and ski gear. Not that those are bad softshells, but they aren't the same as what you'd get from www.bdel.com

What Sinecure said.

That said, I skied in mine last winter. Other than the lack of pit zips, good stuff.

These your skied last year? or the ones from BDEL?

The costco soft shell is a decent jacket and has held up well for the cost. I would not use it as a replacement for a waterproof/highly water resistant soft shell, but the price can't be beat.

They sold out the women's coats in less than 10 days in Bozeman. Hopefully they'll get more.

Thats why you by two for $55. If one does get wetted out a little, swap it with the dry one

I would rather have a waterproof/highly water resistant soft shell, than two pieces of, err, inferior equipment. If it's good get it if it's not then don't waste money on it.

Consider this somewhat of a bump as they are still at Costco.

As mentioned above, I bought two. Although I have not been able to use them skiing I have used them for riding my motorcycle. I have used one several times now in 65-70 degree weather when riding my bike. I realize 65 degrees does not sound cold but 65 degrees at 45-70mph with the wind chill factor and riding without a windshield (yes, I said without a windshield. Its a Harley thing...) I was very impressed with how well they block the wind yet when I would stop riding and wear it around taking care of business I was not over heated.

They also work great in the cooler mornings for horse back riding... $26 is a steal!!

I bought an Arc'treyx windstopper for skiing, but the Black Diamond will be my knock around jacket.
