Internal gear system. By putting the chain in line with the swingarm pivot, they eliminate chain influence on the suspension.

edit - also, moving the gears to that location reduces unsprung mass.

That is a sick looking bike. Probably prohibitively $$$$$$$

Did a little digging, apparently they make several really nice bikes under trhe Head name...I always thought they just made dept store quality.

that thing has to handle like shit....the BB is like 2 feet off the ground.

I'm not sure, but I think the 300mm is the travel. If so, the BB needs to be 2' off the ground. That bike is made for Red Bull Rampage type stuff. You know, like riding to the 7-11.
