... homes I mean (man, you have a dirty mind). Anyone done this? I've been kicking around the idea of swapping a week or two at my three-bedroom condo in the Alps for some time in the US or Canadian West. Who would be interested? Idea just at formative stage right now.

Will your wife/girlfriend/daughter be staying at said condo whilst the swap occurs?

Which leads me to:
THIS THREAD IS WORTHLESS WITHOUT PICS (of the female occupant, not of condo of course)!!!!!

Oops, I forgot this is Epic not TGR. Oh, well, I'll let the post stand anyway.

I'd offer, but my living arrangements fall well short of a 3 bedroom condo.

Well, the idea is more just to throw open the idea of house swaps in general here on Epic. There are so many people in so many great mountain locations, seems a shame not to be able to leverage off this great asset.

Phoenix

We live in Phoenix, we'd be open to swap with someone near a mountain...

I have some Aussie friends who do it pretty regularly. They have a nice house where its warm and sunny in US Wintertime. They swap it for homes in Tahoe, Park City, Jackson, Whistler, etc. They use a site called HomeExchange to arrange it. Two seasons ago they spent 6 weeks skiing in North America and only stayed in hotels for 4-5 nights. Some people use it with their 2nd/vacation homes so that the person you swap with isn't necessarily staying in your house at exactly the same time you're staying in theirs. Craigslist is another good place to advertise, although the homexchange one is probably better organized toward what you are looking for.

Where in the Alps is your condo and what sort of dates/years did you have in mind? Where in the US do you want to go?

Our place is in Madesimo. That's roughly on the Italy side of the pass that heads over to St Moritz on the Swiss side, about two hours from Milan. Madesimo has about 4,700 feet of vertical and something like 15 lifts, including an underground train, a cable car and a gondola. Summit is 3000 meters, which is pretty high for the Alps. Typical Alpine village, with pedestrian center. Our place is about a 5 minute walk from main lifts. Three bedrooms, one bath, wild boar head on wall. 4th floor in an 8-floor building, with elevator. Washer (no dryer), dishwasher, microwave. TV, no satellite. No phone. Queen in master bed, bunks in each of other bedrooms. Fireplace. Wood floors in main area/new wall-to-wall in bedrooms. Skis tucked away under beds, in closets, behind paintings, anywhere my wife can't find them.

I'm only just starting to toy with this idea, nothing set yet. At some point, though, it'd be fun to do a swap with someone who's got a place in the Western US or Canada.

I'm 5 miles from the Capitol Steps. If you have a slopeside place in VT and your man wins in Nov, how about a swap for Inauguration Week

I didn't post on this right away because I am not in a position to do any swapping (looking to buy currently and then would still have to get ok from wife), but I can tell your mind thinks similar to mine.

I have looked at some home exchange site on the internet but would like to see epic have a separate category for this if there seems to be enough interest. Not only are the swaps likely to be more ski oriented (than a general exchange site), but you might be able to get a better feel for the person you are swapping with by looking at their old posts, meeting them at a get together or via referals from other Bears who know them.

Yup. You live in San Fran? Maybe we could do a city/city swap someday, if you're interested in Milan (shopping, food, wine, opera) and the north of Italy (lake country, mountains, riviera).

Moving to Real Estate.

Would you be interested in visiting the "City of Brotherly Love"?

Had a very bad airport experience there recently, so don't know if I wanna go back. Seriously, though, typical New York kid: I've never been to Philly (airport aside).

I liked the rocking chairs, though.

I have a 30-foot sloop I would swap with an experienced sailor for ski house time. Either a week or a weekend. The boat is located in Milford CT on Long Island Sound. I might move it up the coast a bit next summer. This would put you an easy half day sail to Block Island, RI.

Actually Frisco, CO (Summit county w/in 10 miles/15 K of Copper & Brecenridge and not too much further to Keystone, A-basin, Loveland, Vail & Beaver Creek. We are in the process of buying right now and would like to get settled in for a while before doing anything. Looking to the future, wWife would like the idea of Milan, but I would opt for the alps option.

A wise choice.

I've been through your Frisco too (it's the one on the lake, right?). My wife and I skied one one late spring at A-Basin, stayed at a B&B called like the Western Skies or something. Well, sure, we'll keep in touch.

Up for a swap!

I would be interested in trading time with someone who has a condo something interesting, preferably Yurrop or the Carribean
(I heard Antigua has great beaches).

I've a two loft condo (sleeps three nicely) in the heart of Whistler village (aka Le Club Bachelorama). Washer / Dryer, recently remodeled kitchen, 90 second walk to the lifts, 30 seconds to the grocery / liquor stores, one covered parking spot.

Please PM.

Just joined this forum and unsure of etiquette so apologies. Exchanging ski homes is a great idea. I set up https://www.alpinehomeswap.com specifically for European skiers in April. A bunch of us had tried the global home exchange sites but got too many random requests from all over the world. Most skiers still want so ski elsewhere occasionally even if they own is, I gues,, the idea for our non profit making/hobby site . Anyway, the prupose of this message is to see if any North American owners of ski places have any interest in talking about this, either to swap with other N American resort property owners or to ski over in Europe. If anyone has an interest please do get in touch. Many thanks Chris
