Sierra Snowboard?

No more ski gear? Did they split it off from the snowboarding site, because there doesn't seem to be a link to it.

I just bought skis from them 2 weeks ago, but noticed the same thing...maybe it is because they have some big ski swaps in the Sacramento area this month or maybe they are in the process of redesigning their site??? PM SierraJim

The new website is a couple of weeks from being finished. It is "up" and mostly functional, but it will be a work in progress for a while yet. We have not made a full announcement yet because there is soooo much to do. Our '09 test reviews are done and mostly edited in text, but there will be over 100 videos, new tutorials, new merchandising, instant product chat, and a bunch of other stuff that is not quite ready.

Sorry for any inconvenience in the meantime.

I like that you are splitting them up because it was sometimes difficult to keep the two separate while browsing. But you really should put something like "Looking for skis? Go here!" since most folks are used to going to the snowboard page.

You are absolutely correct.

Do you expect to fill in the gear Wiki forwards and back in time?

Jim -- it looks like many of the 2008 skis aren't showing up as 50% off. I was looking at the 145-150cm range for a friend, and the Dynastar Exclusive Active and Sensation, and the Volkl Attiva Aire and Luna, are all less than 50% off.

Yes I know.

The problem is that the new system was programmed to recognize MAP or our daily price as the default price rather than MSRP which is more usual. We can't change that until the main programmer gets back from his vacation. We have tried to manually change the $$ amounts to reflect 50% off of MSRP and we probably have most of that done by now. Unfortunately, while the visible sale price will actually be 50% off of MSRP, the product window will show that it's like 37.623% off of some other number.

Like I said....a work in progress.

The prices are pulling off of MAP right now for some reason so that is why it says that some skis are at less then 50% off. In all actuality though the prices are the same as they were before we launched are new site.

This is one of the issues that we will be addressing in the next couple weeks.

That's an open question. Wiki turned out to be a bit of a headache for us and we are not keen on the feature as we move forward. There will be areas for user reviews and maybe some form of incentive to share reviews on site.

TBD....however.

So in the interim, should I suggest that the friend order by phone instead of by web? Or will the prices be corrected on the order before the card is charged?

The way I am understanding it is that the final, discounted price quoted on the website is correct.

What is NOT correct is the original, pre-discount price (displays lower than it should), and the % off figure (thus, also displays lower than it should).

As your friend is going to be paying the final, discounted price and these other two incorrect figures are basically just there as advertising/window dressing, there should be no difference in the price he pays whether he orders via web or phone.

This is, of course, assuming there are no other little glitches they are still ironing out of the website. I am purely speculating here, but even though he may end up paying the same price, it may be slightly safer to order by phone just to avoid any delays.

I love the new website

Hey Jim,

I'm liking the new website so far. I tune in when I can at 3 PM for the Jared, Jen, and Brody Show. Friday was hysterical. They all changed identities. Funny seeing Jared pretend to be Jen. He was even wearing her wedding ring. They only broke character a few times.

Keep up the great work on the snowboard side.
