From that one, one can understand why Austria, Switzerland and France get the most snow, and why Italy does not.
The Alps act as a natural wall against the cold air masses comind south from the North pole.
We get mild winters, but less snow.
For the southern side of the Alps to get huge snowfalls, the clouds must come from the south...or be really,really big, otherwise we get only the crumbles...
Also, if you look at the borders, you can notice a coincidence, the snow has stopped where the red line is!!!
That's because the borders coincide (mostly) with the highest peaks...
