TR: Utah, Year 1

Madeline and I moved to Utah from DC, last July. I ended up sleeping on the floor for a month becuase thats how long it takes for moving vans to roll. I thought that was the hard part. The lesson I learned this year is that some times things don't happen all at once. Some times you have to wait. I was hurt most of the winter, and skiing on two bad ankles is pretty rough. Sometimes I would just make one ride up the lift and head home. But I still had my best ski season ever and my best bike season, best year at work, best ... you get the picture.

Sorry you've had some stumbles along the way, but thrilled that you've embraced the experience!
Sheena is lookin good, too!
Kudos to both of you for making the move.

tromano - well, it certainly looks like you are taking full advantage of all that Northern Utah has to offer. Logan and the Cache Valley are just beautiful and offer so much. I especially like the shots of the Beav virtually to yourselves.

Similarly, we moved to N. Utah last July (from the Midwest) and are continually amazed at what the area offers for the family who loves the outdoors. If we make it up to Beaver this season, I will try to hook up with you - it would be nice to get a tour from a local.

Beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Great to hear former resident of the District making good in the Rockies. The photo recap almost brought a tear to my eyes from admiration, envy, and beauty. Hope the injury bug is banished this winter.
All the best to both of you.

Well done Tromano! You've taken good advantage of Utah's diverse geography. Sorry I haven't gotten back to you on hooking up for some biking excursions but Aug/Sept is a crazy time for secondary educators and I've been swamped. In fact, I only managed to get out on my bike a grand total of ONCE this year. I'm impressed with your itinerary. We'll need to hook up on a powder weekday and sample the delights of Beaver's backside (. . . wait, can I say this on a family ski forum?).

Yeah, I could make that move, but I'd miss this guy:

Thanks for taking time to post an update Tim. Looks like you and M found what you were looking for. I'm more happy for you than jealous of you, though I'll admit i am a bit jealous. Sorry i missed you in March, see you in 09.

Nice pics. That's awesome you made the move. I have been thinking about making the move to Utah from the Mid-Atlantic.

Bill, The weahter is perfect for biking right now. A Powder weekday sounds like a plan. My work is very flexible with powder days. Thats how I got some of those pictures to look so empty.
