Heh, we have to set up a Bumpphest this year. Thought?

Though it's far from extreme terrain, your neighborhood is centric of Midwest, Southeast, and Northeast. I vote Poconos

No Mary Jane for me (I nether thought I would say that, but...). Does not fit into the schedule. ESA looks like it spills over to the first weekend in April, when I normally do it in the East. Will need to figure this out. Might move these over to a new thread.."Bumphest 09 East/West/Both?"

I hope to make the Big Sky ESA this year (Aspen comes too early), but I'd vote for a Stowe or a MRG bump-phest this year.

Fixed it for ya

I am always up for MRG. We might end up playing the location TBA once we get closer to the date due to conditions.

East:

Stowe
MRG
Okemo (Sel's has "hero" bumps)
Mt. Snow

I did Stowe last year and made it a 3 day ski ending weekend. While that day and conditions were outstanding for that late in the year, I think only 6-8 Bears were there and I wonder if the 2 hours drive to get further north kept others home. It was a short day as most needed to begin the trek home. If we do Stowe again, maybe Epic could find a "homebase" location to meet and hang out on the mountain.
I'd love to do an extended weekend again as the Philly - Vt. drive does not work for a day.

There is always mothers day at A-basin!

Anything more than 10 or 12 hours away from Ralegh is somewhat iffy, but probably still do-able for me. Okemo count me in, Hunter chances are very good, Mt Snow is kinda far, Stowe is really far but might be doable--as long as I'm not riding with Bumpfreaq

I've followed you before. I'm guessing a Top Fuel Dragster would have trouble getting there quicker.

If Okemo gets you there, then it is Okemo. Remember, you promised.

(FWIW, Mt. Snow is actually further than Okemo, but you committed to Okemo.

Driving directions to 77 Okemo Ridge Rd, Ludlow, VT 05149
726 mi – about 12 hours 43 mins.

If I leave at 3pm I could be at work by 8:30...sort of Actually, I work remotely these days so I could also stop at a Bear's house on the way back, stay and work there Monday 9-5 then drive the rest of the way home Monday night. How's that for making a way?

Kevin -

Apparently you haven't ski SW Montana because if you had you would know that any day that's not a powder day is a bumpfest. Someone should schedule an official Bumpfest West at Big Sky before or after the ESA. If it snows we can bag it for a Powderfest.

Heck I've already skied Mt Snow, Kton, and Stowe. I've never been to Okemo

Honestly, I'm OK on a couch or floor with pillows and blanket if others also need a crash location Sunday night. Odds are I can take Monday off and split early, but if I HAVE to work Monday morning I can do it anywhere that has an internet connection and Verizon cell coverage

What are you all thinking time frame wise?

I didn't think there was enough skier traffic at Big Sky to generate a bump run! There's nobody there!

It doesn't take many skiers to build big bumps when the snows soft and natural.
Wait a minute...Okemo. No

That's nice place to visit, but you can't do bump fest there. You need some big mountain stuff because it's not all bumpin.

Kevin F is on the right track, MRG or Stowe. I'd also consider Stowe or MRG. That trip at the end of the season to Stowe was so fine. And the Mad River skiing was fantastic. It was my best day of the season.

crgildart, if you drive all that way lets do some serious skiing. Okemo is snowmaking and groomers.

So how far are you driving? Why not do Saturday at Stowe/MRG and Sunday a bit closer to home for most? It doesn't HAVE to be Okemo.
