Bump up the volume on your ipod

Ipod, MP3, whatever

This is not a....
:
- "do you listen to music when you ski?" debate.
- "should you listen to music when you ski?" debate.
- "Am I irresponsible for listening to music when I ski?" debate.

If you turn this into a flame, then your post will be reported, deleted, and I'll flame you back until you are nothing but ashes!!!

This thread is..............
What music do you listen to that gets your mojo going in the moguls?

Does it depend on the line?
Does it depend on the ski style of the bumper?
Is it a good learning tool for someone who just can't seem to get the rhythm?

Ramones. "Blitzkreig (sp?) Bop."

Hop in the wayback machine with Mr. Peabody to 1989. Motley Crue "Kick Start My Heart." (I graduated HS in 87 ok? I am lucky to know my own name never mind what an MP3 is. Where is my yellow armored cassette Walkman?)

How could I resist?
(You say "don't jump!" I say "how high?")

I do try to sing to myself while I'm skiing sometimes.

Whenever I think of moguls, the notes of that song from Aspen Extreme ski-off scene comes to mind...
What was the title? "Feel like a number" (Bob Seger)?

Not that I ski moguls much...but that would, if my knees could keep up to it, be the rythm I'd like to ski moguls at.

Sweet and Dandy ~ Toots and the Maytals

Ha
You Can Make it if You Try - Rolling Stones

13 Steps Lead Down - Elvis Costello

All the Way Down - Etta James

Jump - Kriss Kross

Land - Patti Smith

Speed is the Key - Sugarcubes

Songs I try to avoid while skiing the bumps:

Out of Control - Chemical Brothers

Face Down - Prince

Truth is I do pick music specifically for skiing but I don't pick music specifically for bumps. Fast and aggro is good, but so is spacy and ethereal. I don't try to match the rhythm of my turns to the rhythm of the music.... not in the bumps anyway. The only musical preferance I have in bumps is that the song doesn't end in the middle of the run. That sucks.

Don't Back Down - The Beach Boys

Anything by Atmosphere

I'm not a fan of the title. I usually turn my volume DOWN cuz I use these.

While training SL, I really like The Slam - by Toby Mac. I find it to be really good for getting a rhythm going.

For GS, I like Under and Over by Egypt Central - a good motivational song, but it wasn't played much due to the fact that I trained GS once this year in a single run while visiting Bromley.

I think both would do good for bumps, esp the first one.

Drowning Pool--------- Let the bodies hit the floor.

Click link for lyrics---Very simple, and rythmic, and somewhat applicable.

For those that don't know the song or band...the closest band I would say is...Metallica?

This is kinda like playing music during sex. If you hear the music, you're doing it wrong.

Just kidding, how could I resist that though?

And to answer the question, sometimes I prefer something loud and fast, sometimes I prefer something real rythmic, sometimes something that really just helps me focus.

Are you still talking about skiing bumps
Since i 'm not a great bumper, needing to take a rather slow, methodical and deliberate approach, Barry White "Ain't no sunshine when she's gone.." comes to mind! Barry can also multi-task for setting the mood a little later in the evening when things sometime go bump in the night.....

Some (most) of these errr, emmm,

Weak.

Sorry.

They aren't bad songs, I just wouldn't choose to ski bumps to them. Other types of skiing, maybe. Not bumps.

To be a good bumpin' song you need a hard fast driving bassline.

Prodigy - Speedway

Krafty Kuts - Bring Back the Funk

Daft Punk - Bigger Harder Faster Stronger

Fatbody Slim - Acid 8000

Moby - Drop a Beat

Midival Punditz - Bhangra Fever

Eric B & Rakim - I know you got soul (Acem Remix)

Northern Lite

Sheep on Drugs

Yea, I guess I should clarify, I never really purposefully seek out bumps to hammer, not really my thing, I was just posting general all purpose music to ski to.
