SAC Karma - Tramdock

Thread Starter
Well I guess they come out even.....

In this morning email was the following:
Good news for skiers. Tramdock.com is going to re-launch on 9/2. It'll be a one-deal-at-a-time site with ski gear. That's right. Labor Day's almost here; and it's almost time to start thinking skiing.

Alright, cool. A new site with exclusively ski gear. Props to SAC/BC But whoa..... almost time to start thinking about skiing

So what's the difference with SAC?

Tramdock

Did anyone read the daily dose over at steepandcheap.com? Says they are relaunching tramdock in september as a one deal at time site for ski gear.

Saw it in another thread this morning. Looking forward to it.

We're completely rebuilding Tramdock from the engine out...it's kinda like turning a '59 Ford Edsel into a Ferrari F430. Some might think it can't be done. Come back September 2nd and decide for yourself.
^^ from the web site.
Bad bad bad

They don't have a Firefox plugin yet, so as long as we don't refresh we may be safe from temptation!

Oh God, I just got a promotion, too...

Why let that stop your addiction? I downloaded the SAC plugin, modified it to work with Tramdock, and installed it. Its working great. I'm not sure my wife will agree that was a good move, though.

I was hoping that link would take me to some impulsive shopper support page

So far this morning I got climbing skins and another pair of gloves. If I continue at this pace I'm gonna start having monthly equipment sales just like Finndog does

Ya know, I'm not the best programmer in the world (by FAR), but I'm not quite able to see what mods you did. Opening the .xpi file up in BBEdit or some other text program just reveals a bunch of gobbledy-gook, and any references to 'steepandcheap' seem to be preference or icon files, not links to web pages. Help a brother score some crack?

I had to update a good number of the files, but the Tramdock website is very similar to the SAC website so it wasn't too bad. I'm attaching the extension here in case someone wants a copy. Just download the tramdock.doc attachment as tamdock.xpi" (this website doesn't allow .xpi as an extension for an attachment) and install the extension. Once you restart the browser, it should show up in addition to your existing SAC information. The info on the toolbar uses the same icon as SAC (I couldn't find a better one), but the rest of the content should be from the Tramdock website.

The new Tramdock is dangerous. At least SAC has lots of stuff I'm not interested in between good items. I've already made two purchases on Tramdock (fortunately both small) and I've been tempted by others. Saw the Salomon Gun Ski Boots (freeski version of falcon) for around $230 this morning in my size. Didn't need 'em but I was still tempted.

Need doesn't have anything to do with it -- it's all about want!

Cant's save the file as a zip..Any ideas
Since the file is only useful when using Firefox, I'll assume that you are using that as your browser. If so, then:
  • Right-mouse-click on tramdock.doc, select "Save Link As...", choose a location, and save the file as "tramdock.xpi", without the quotes.
  • In Firefox, go to Tools->Add-ons. Make sure the "Extensions" tab is highlighted.
  • Drag-and-drop tramdock.xpi onto the window that you just opened.
Once you restart Firefox (you will be prompted), then the extension should be running.

Just got the Dynastar Trouble Makers for $200 shipped. If I had only known I would have bought the PX12 jib bindings yesterday for $90.
