I wanna ski with... - Page 2

This thread got me thinking and I did a list of everyone I could remember skiing with from here and I counted 68 over the last 4 seasons

I've met or ridden a chair with another dozen or so.

That is the most wonderful resource this community offers amongst all the resources available here IMO

I'd like to push that number as high as possible this season to maximize friendships and acquaintances while proving to more people that I SUCK at a higher level

I am going to be throwing out major Kate style heckling at him. "STOP SUCKING"

Lets see now.....Yuki, because I want to race him.....U.P.Racer.....because I want to race him.....

Now as amazing as it would be to ski with Tyrone S. I would only follow him if I was ready to die....so it aint happenin.

Ummm, who else.....
Rick so he can tell me all that I don't know.
Bob Peters cuz he's a Headman and we can swap skis.
Atomicman because he and I seem to be on the same wavelength...and he skis Heads.
Dowork because he's a good guy.
Finndog just because.
Garret because I need to expand my vocabulary and the man is a genius.

Lastly Samurai and BushwackerinPA simply because they both hate me and if they met me and hung out with me I think they would think differently. I would even pick them up in the BIG ski SUV.

That's not to say I don't want to ski with the rest of you, but those names stand out right now.

Don't think he's on Epic, but a Kiwi pal of mine went up about 500m of vertical on Mt.Fuji in late March some years back to ski down. He said later it was one of the dumber things he'd done because it was all ice/crust and he damn near broke numerous bones. Of course, he wasn't a very good skier at the time.

I want to see a tabulation when this is all said and done who is the Bear in highest demand, maybe we can raffle off a day with him/her....at a quick glance I see Bob Peters, Tyrone, and Bushwacker.

Three different personality traits of those who choose them:

Bob: you want to ski incredible terrain and live to tell about it.
Tyrone: you want to ski incredible terrain and you really don't care if you live.
Bushwacker: you want to ski incredible terrain and get abused about your lack of talent and unworthiness to be there.

i've skied with bushwacker (although, by accident...), and he is such a fun-loving, gracious skier. honestly, the dood spends who KNOWS how many countless days on the hill each season, and still, at the very end, after most people would actually be (dare i say it?) SICK of skiing, he is making the most out of what were really pretty crappy conditions. he'd look for some chute that was melting away by the minute or some run-off stream to jump over. he is a very strong skier (stronger than i...), but he is also just out there to have fun... for the love of god, it's just skiing! and life is good whenever you're on the hill

...And Nobody, 'cause you want to ski epic, so-so, or crappy terrain, and then have a fantastic meal afterward.

Bob: wants to ski incredible terrain and tell his story
Tyron: wants to ski incredible stories with a single bound, and does it artfully
Bushwacker: Wants to ski incredible terrain, with all his heart. His posting gets ahead of his heart and head, which does not display what an incredible person he really is.

Trek, 'fess up. You want to ski with me so each time we'd reach the end of a run I'd have to ask you : "You finish" ?

You know me too well!

Not sure whether I ever met one here.

But if anyone here skied on maggot's AKPM day at the Ghettos 2 years (?) ago then yes. And can tell I'd definitely be in for repeating that one with everybody involved.

Anytime, my man.... Hey, you have a lot more money than I do... why don't you come to the Masters race at my home hill this season? I'll get you free lift tickets.

Also, at some point this winter, I will be working with a rep in New York. He lives in West Nyack, so not too far from some skiing. We'll hook up for sure if you can get away.

I think richie was saying I abuse people on the hill, not get abused myself. Either way not good either way not true...

Richie if you stood back and look at your post for alittle bit, and realize a ton of them was personal stuff that everyone here goes though everyday and we have friends to talk about this stuff with, then will you get why I 'flame" your post. I bet your a pretty good guy in person, but your coming off as self centered, whiner on here. Make that stop, and I bet people like you more.

my list out of the people I havent skied with..which has been alot from this board.

U.P. Racer - because I know he would be a blast to ski with, and if you ve seen videos you know he is amoung the most skilled skier here.

Tyrone - people tell me in person we are very similar. I just wish i could turn off fear like that and rationalize big drops like him.

Samuri - another former USFA skier, I bet skiing with him in a Japenese tree would be a once in life time experince

Trekchick - because I am great at getting people to do what they dont want to do, I think this is what she needs...

Cirque - because he has ties to the burgh

Jer - he is another LCC guy who sounds like he can actually ski.

whatever though I dont even know where I am ending up this season yet.....it could be Utah, could be Wyoming, could be colorado, could be well Vermont.

The funny thing is, you are probably serious! Even if we're in NY, it wouldn't be out of the question for you to be there, would it?

When I grow up, I want TC's lifestyle....

You folks just don't know enough people from Long Island. As a person who married a Long Island girl, I can safely guess that RR is nothing more than a regular Long Island guy....which is better than being from Staten Island but that is another story. I bet you are right and he is a good easy going (LI style) guy in person. Just bear in mind that laid back Long island style is totally different than laid back west coast.

Now for my own question: How does a newbie earn his chops and the right to ski with other bears?

If I had to pick just a couple, I'd get a kick out of skiing with Weems and Bob Barnes. On the other hand, I would like to someday ski with every Bear cause it would mean I'm skiing instead of working!

Happens all the time, baby!
How about we add Splat to that list and see if PM gear will sponsor the BWPA Ski Day, gather your whole list together and have some fun!?

This one time at Abasin, .............
Phil said GO BIGGER, TC, GO BIGGER!
Meanwhile, Geoffda said, "take a smaller bite and you'll land it so you'll want to go bigger next time"

Saddly, this is true, I'd probably plan a road trip for this occasion. Dumb, eh?
I'm not sure you'd like my summer lifestyle.
Grandma always said, make hay while the sunshines, so you can play when it snows!

I want to ski by myself*.

Lyrics to Splendid Isolation : written by Warren Zevon

I want to live alone in the desert
I want to be like Georgia O'Keefe
I want to live on the Upper East Side
And never go down in the street

Splendid Isolation
I don't need no one
Splendid Isolation

Michael Jackson in Disneyland
Don't have to share it with nobody else
Lock the gates, Goofy, take my hand
And lead me through the World of Self

Splendid Isolation
I don't need no one
Splendid Isolation

Don't want to wake up with no one beside me
Don't want to take up with nobody new
Don't want nobody coming by without calling first
Don't want nothing to do with you

I'm putting tinfoil up on the windows
Lying down in the dark to dream
I don't want to see their faces
I don't want to hear them scream

Splendid Isolation
I don't need no one
