The Single Ski- Snow Snake?

Thread Starter
Hi guys, I was over at my grandfather's house, looking at his single skis. Those skis are awesome!

He has his boots/bindings arranged so they are on top of eachother, instead of side-by-side.

Has anyone ever heard of the "Snow Snake"?

I don't think the person who made them is still in production, but I think he may be from the Portland Area.

Snow snake? Do you mean monoboard? The single-tip snowdoard with two ski bindings mounted on it lengthwise that Plake skied in that movie from the late 80's?

Edit: just noticed you said "bindings on top of each other." Do you mean "in front of each other" ? Now I'm picturing a water ski.. Pics?

You might try talking to someone in the Bend, OR area. I was skiing Batchelor in the mid 80's and rode the chair with a guy in his 50s at the time who I believe designed and manufactured the Snow Snake. He ripped on it! If I remember right it had a lot of sidecut for it's time.

Me thinks someone sent OP on a snipe hunt...

Perhaps you meant Snowshark? They make monoskis.

Either that or you are talking about an alpine carving snowboard.

The Snow Snake I saw was setup like a slalom water ski- a normal alpine binding in front, and a slip in parallel rail(almost like a box with the rear removed) for the rear binding. The rear didn't attach to the boot so he could remove his foot and push to get around.
