Epicski.com hjacked?

Thread Starter
It appears that the Epic ski link (www.epicski.com) is currently getting redirected to: http://network.sportsyndicator.com/?...L8DGu3ry5jc%3D

Fortunately I happened to have another browser instance already open from yesterday so I can post this. Can somebody investigate?

Thanks!

Epicski.com hjacked?

When I opened epicski.com this a.m., the screen shifted to something called sportsyndicate.com in about a second. Repeated attempts, including opening via a google search produced the same result. I was able to access the forums only by going there thru google.

What's up? Or is it just my computer? I'm not currently blocking popups.

Yeah, there's a redirect to

http://network.sportsyndicator.com

From the homepage. Not from direct forum access.

I sent it to Dcneiner.

I had the same problem... By turning up the security options across the board it went away. I thought for sure somebody who used this computer (shared work computer) screwed it up by looking at porn or something, but now I feel better.

I had the same problem, but now you seem to be back--10 mins ago I couldn't get on. Now OK.

Thank you for alerting us to this problem. It was caused as the result of unused advertising code from our previous ad vendor being left in the bottom of the page (only on the main site).

Long story short, it appears the domain where the original ads were served from is no longer in the control of the original vendor and the new page was redirecting all traffic to that homepage.

The stale code has been removed and replaced with the same footer ads that appear on the bottom of the forums.

Again, thanks for letting us know! If you come across anything else, let me know as well.

I was worried too. After a spate of greeting card email virus' at work ("I accidently opened it like you told me not to"), I was concerned.

Yep, I got it too!

I thought the new advertising stuff just escaped from the side of the page.

Here's my sign. UL

I did not get redirected yesterday, just couldn't get to epicski.com. Used the address below which worked yesterday. Today it doesn't work & gives me this message. But the www.epicski.com works.

With DoItAtWork's signiture line, does anyone want to start a pool as to which house the "shared" computer is most likely to pick up an interweb STD?

Doug, first time I have seen you post. Seems that you are working in some capacity to help the web site work. Please introduce yourself to the community in a separate post. Sorry if I missed it earlier, I may have been sleeping

Super Doug the web dude.

Doug is our new Web Designer, Mark. He and AndrewH are part of the behind the scenes team that makes the website run. They joined us last November and began work on the site a few weeks later, which no one noticed because the site required a great deal of code cleanup for speedier page loading before it could support the neat things we wanted to bring to the community, such as our store for logo gear, stickers, books by members, etc., that went live a couple of months ago.

Our to-do list is long and includes updating the About Us section. One of Doug's most recent cool changes is the ESA site.

Please let us know if we're moving too fast, not giving enough advance warning, or not enabling enough input into these changes. We hope our response to the outcry over ads on the left will demonstrate our desire to "do the right thing" (harhar).
