Bode Miller 08/09?

Thread Starter
Does anyone know Bode Miller's status for 2008/09?

Will he be back with Team America?
I hope he does it again, and then changes his idiom to skiing 60 degree spines in AK for TGR flicks.

Bode's still doing the Team America thing, but his head coach Johno McBride has left, and AFAIK he hasn't found a replacement yet (although he still has two other coaches). Hopefully he'll show us more of the same from last season. I suspect he'll be looking to capture the Downhill title - it's the only one he hasn't bagged yet (aside from slalom, which I don't think anyone really expects him to compete in - although he had a few decent results at the end of last season).
With Svindal back, we should see some great competition in DH, SG and GS.

I know he's endorsing the Hot Gear Bag this season.

Several other athletes who did not qualify are training with the Team, according to Hunt. Former A Team athletes Bryon Friedman (Park City, UT) and Dane Spencer (Boise, ID) have both been participating in Team camps and have an open invitation to continue, as have Europa Cup podium performers Paul McDonald (Bellevue, WA) and Katie Hitchcock (Carmichael, CA). "While these top athletes didn't qualify by the Team selection criteria, we want to make our camps and coaching available to them to be as prepared as possible for the season."

Veteran Lalive, who was injured last season, has been named as a reserve and will participate in Team training. Lalive is making a strong recovery and anticipates being back in competition by the start of the season.

As VA so succinctly puts it: What does the US Ski Team have to do with Body?

Best wishes to Body for another successful and healthy season. Similar sentiments to all members of the US Ski team.

I see several folks are listed here from my old stomping grounds Buck Hill. Is Sailer still alive-and running that program? I guess they get good at carving hardpack and milking speed on the flats when that's all there is to ski on.
On the lighter side...
I'm resisting a very compelling temptation to edit this list and add some notorious Bears taking liberties with the DOB, hometown, and club data

Bode has been training at Treble Cone in NZ this month.

http://www.treblecone.co.nz/newslett...ewsletterID=47

this 'implies' he is traning with the US ski team?

I have not seen him cause none of my trips coincided with their training. Trouble is you know the names but not the faces, they always have helmets and goggles on and look the same when competing. Someone had to point hermann maier out to me last year. I think Bode was about last year too. In the cafe you can't miss them in their lycra suits so I never took much notice of the faces.....

The 'stars' are very approachable when they train down under, cause the kiwis just let them got on with it, and leave them alone most of the time. Probably cause we have no idea who is who.
