The olympics make me smile

For hundreds of reasons. Here's one:

The music they play between points at beach vollyball. Just the last bit of the May-Treanor/Walsh match tonight featured Highway to Hell by AC/DC, Don't Get Me Down by ELO and Uptown Girl by Billy Joel. Ha of course this is in Beijing. Makes me smile.

Here's another. "Kitajima is now officially the best breaststroker in the world!"

Ha I just wish they would bring back Dick Enberg to announce women's gymnastics.

I gotta say that was a great match. Just shows what experience does for athletes. Five set points for the other side and the still pulled off the set and swept the next set.

I gotta say I'm not a huge fan of the music for 7.456 seconds between each point. It does nothing for me. I guess it's supposed to keep the energy level at 100% all the time but I hate hype. I'd rather let the excitement of the sporting event speak for itself. I also hate hearing seven bars of a song. I want to listen to music uninterrupted, even if while doing something else at the same time.

Yeah, I agree with this whole heartedly. What make me smile (in wonderment) at this is the selection of tunes and their odd context in Beijing

No way, not an ad....

Yeah, the Nike ad that they run before the bball games. Highlights of the games so far cut into Marvin Gaye singing the national anthem. Gives me shivers.
