BOF/CRS Binding mount question

I've been reading up on BOF/CRS mounting of the bindings with the expectation of modifying my current settings and I have a question about it...are all sidecuts exactly lengthwise symmetrical in regards to the running surface? If not, is the CRS really the proper spot to place your BOF when mounting the binding? Aren't you really shooting for the thinnest part of the waist to get the most flex and balance out of the configuration?

Obviously if all sidecuts are lengthwise symmetrical then that answers my question, but just from looking at them it doesn't appear to me they are.

Thanks

They are not symmetrical.

There are many people who have had excellent results and an improvement in performance from BOF/CRS... but in reality it is every bit as arbitrary a point as the manufacturer's mount point*.

*for full disclosure, I believe the manufacturers mount point is more often the best point for most people.

Thanks for the reply. That reinforces my uneducated gut reaction to some of the articles I've read.
