I'm considering doing an early season (probably around December 13) trip to Grand Targhee. Family recently bought some property there (no house on it yet) but I figured I may be spending a bunch of time there in the future so I should check out the goods. I've got a bunch of vacation that I need to use by the end of December, so figured this could be a good use. I've heard Targhee is generally pretty reliable for early season snow given its location and gentler terrain. Thoughts?
Trying to decide whether to burn some vacation at Targhee this December. Looks like the prices jump for lodging about the 18th, so I want to be in and out before then, maybe in the Sioux lodge. Does the snowcat season start that early, or does it take longer to open that area than the main runs?
(yeah, I know it's an old thread)....

There's a lot more snow in the forecast.
I say go for it. You can always cancel and not drive up, can't you?
