I made a mad dash off the "Island" last week, spur of the moment, and headed up to Ludlow for a quick golf getaway. I suddenly found myself enrolling in a 3hr. Golf Clinic at Okemo on Friday morning. Just so happened that I was the only person to show up so I ended up with a 3 hr. private lesson for $100. Sweet.

I wanted to work on my nasty short game and we did, along with some putting and the full swing. Kudos to my instructor, Don Banks, who immediately gave me a couple of custom tailored swing thoughts and some techniques that really helped me straighten out a few problems.

I played the Okemo Course later that afternoon and felt much more comfortable hitting the ball and had a pretty good round. The Okemo course is a bit pricey (too much at rack rates) but you get a nice deal if you enrolled in a lesson that day.

The next day I went up to play the Green Mounain National. That course I REALLY liked! Beautiful layout - it really fits perfectly in the mountain setting - some great holes and the condition was excellent. I went cheap and walked it on Saturday for the $39 twilight rate. A great deal. I Highly recommend both courses but the GMN was really sweet.

I took a lot away from my Okemo lesson and their private teaching facility is fantastic as well. Check it out for a nice tune up if you're up that way!
