yeah you are correct and we will have to wait and see.
Lots people are moaning the installation of these lifts, but I actually dig it:
1 - It could be a bad thing that more people will hit LV on a powder day thus tracking it out, but I rarely ski LV on a powder day....and maybe this will spread people out more thus slowing down the powder frenzy elsewhere.
2 - The LV lift will provide easy access to some of the rarely hit interesting terrain on Sunnyside. Stuff like Pencil Chute (only visible from about halfway up Chair 4 to lookers right and the Brocolli Chute (the one in the rocks/cliff band above the backside warming hut) is always a pain to get to....will be nice to have the option to hit them up while on the way over to Chair 4 rather than just tucking the traverse from Chair 2. The snow can sometimes be crusty/interesting in this area though due to its exposure
Pic of pencil chute from a distance on Chair 4 (the long narrow sliver in the rocks on the right side of the pic). Broccoli Chute is just around the corner hidden from view:
3 - Regarding the CV lift, this will sure get more people going OB and hitting WS and the stuff above Immigrant Lake, but it will those of us willing to hike even further (i.e. me ), it will give easier access to stuff further out that you can't even see without putting some effort in.
Or it will just totally suck all around....like I said, we'll have to see
