New PMGear Graphics - 186 & 196 "Lhasa Pow" - Page 2

Now I just have to decide on a mounting line! ARGH! The decisions to be made just never end! [/quote]

Same here. Waiting for my 183 BROs to arrive. Any thoughts on the mounting line???

I'm not 100% sure, but 99% of me says +3mm ahead of the line, as per the concensus found here...

http://tetongravity.com/forums/showt...unting+poi nt

Seems to be the happy medium for turning, speed and floatation... Versatility is what I am looking for, so this is probably what I will end up doing. That and you can adjust normal bindings forward/back a few mm to dial 'em in so I figure that will be what I end up with.

Anybody else got other info to suggest I do otherwise?

Behold...the 196 Lhasa....bringin sexy back

Those boards are so freaking gorgeous! Man, I love the thought of having those pointed down a steep bowl or similar. Gear acquisition budget is all dried up this year....must resist! I definitely think I'd get the 196s over the 186s. Tyrone, which ones will you ride this year?

Probably a little bit of both. I currently have a pair of 186 Lhasa prototypes with the 192 graphic on them from last winter that I've come to really love. They don't have quite as much tip rocker as the final production version, but I still really like them, so I'll rock those alot this year.

I'll have a pair of 196's as well...maybe in about a month.

I have a feeling I'll be on the 196's quite a bit. On a deep day, it would be hard to pull the 186 out of the rack with the 196 sittin there too.

Maybe I'll put Dukes on the 186 and use that for a sidecountry touring ski...and then put some bomber clamps on the 196 for terrorizing the resort and for comps.

choices, choices

I can imagine you popping out of the trees or some bowl where there's a transition area and people being terrified at the size of those skis as you levitate by.

Some instrumental Beastie Boys for what certainly looks like a beast of a ski... I like it!

That review was posted in Dec. of 07... has the boot center line on the 183 moved since then as the design has evolved, or is it in the same place? Tyrone, any idea?

The boot line has remained the same. I ski my 183's right on the line and like them a lot right there. When I first got them mounted, the shop made a mistake and mounted them a +2CM (not mm) and they were certainly quicker in short radius turns, but I felt that they lost some of their high-speed stability which is what's most important to me, so I re-mounted them back.

If you wanted to mount them forward, I would go +1 CM MAX, and maybe even just +0.5 CM. That actually might be a good option right there.

Hey, does anyone know where to order these or how long it would take to get a 196 Lhasa??
The where is easy: http://pmgear.com/index.php?cPath=52

I believe these are being pressed right now, so good timing if you want a pair.

PMgear is much more active on TGR than Epic. I think Splat was expecting 196 Lhasa's to be all spoken for soon - search TGR. They don't make 1000's of skis each year, only hundreds.

They are pretty responsive by email too.

I got my 186's a few weeks ago (at the cost of having to send $ last spring). Now, if Nature would only provide a bit more snow.

To quote my bro
"We're not K2. We're a bunch of maggots running one press at full steam building killer fukkin skis and putting smiles on our friends' faces."

Yeah, but everytime I buy a lift ticket to that place, they give me a sticker.
...and I am almost as big of a sticker whore, as I am a gear whore.

If Soli. did the same, I would have a Solitude sticker on my DPS
