Your take on alpine snowboarding and extremecarving

Thread Starter
Hi guys,

I am Jonas, just discovered this forum. I have been around on other forums, mostly about alpine snowboarding. Recently I got some bashing, as I sticked my nose to a place, where no alpine snowboarder should go without an army...

So, in general, I wonder, if this is a place to discuss alpine and carving, and its extreme forms, or should one be advised to move on?

You can talk about it all you want. But there are only about 3 of us here who care. And we're all also over on Bomber so its sort of a waste of breath (mostly). There are a couple of Alpine riders who hang out on TGR too. But again, I think they also frequent BOL.

Oh, and you won't get beat up here. This place is way too freakin PC. In fact, so much that at times it pisses me off. People here get banned for crap that would go totally unnoticed on other forums.

Oh, and Extreme Carving is for Eurofags. I know, because I can't do it very well and therefore it must not be manly enough for amuricuns.

Now this is alpine carving:

And so is this, only off-piste:

I actually picked up a leather cover for it recently. Funny you noticed. I wonder about that. I never see covers on axe tips on BC folks.

That's Ellery Bowl a couple seasons ago. Just outside Tioga Pass at Yosemite.

Sinecure,
Thanks, thats a cool pic. I knew it looked like the Sierras, thought that might be Red Lake with Stevens Pk. in the background.

The reason I noticed the axe is that I used to carry mine like that, till I saw a picture of myself & realized the possible consequences.

Thanks,
JF

Jonas,

Welcome to Epic. As Sinecure has noted, this place is neither TGR nor Bomber. We do ask that you don't spam and that you be civil towards other members, but we will tolerate the occasional un-PC self deprecating jokes. If you do get bashed here, please use the report post button and I'll take care of it. Alas, since this is "EpicSki".com there are more active sites for hard code riders and we spend a fair amount of posts working on skier/rider harmony. In the meantime, all boarding topics are fair game here - even teleboarding.

Hi Jonas. I'll echo what the others have said. bomberonline.com is probably the best place to discuss alpine boarding but share the joy here as well.

Teleboarding's not a sport! I know, because I"ve tried it. It's a nightmare...hardest thing I've ever done!

I demoed a teleboard a few years ago. As long as you tucked the kneecap of the rear leg into the back of the front knee control was manageable. It was kind of cool but I have enough toys.

Are you teaching at Okemo again this year? I run the NASTAR program there.
