Jackets cut for big people

6' 2.5", 220-245 depending on the time of year, long arms. Looking for a new jacket. Everything I try on no matter what the size seems to be made for an athletic body with really short arms. I'm not obese but could loose a few.

Anyone know of a good quality ski jacket that would fit the bill. Getting tired of trying on jackets with short sleeves that ride up. Guess I'm looking for more of a loose fit for someone with monkey arms (about 37")

thanks,
Andrew

I'm your size and wear a Patagonia Stash Jacket or Cloudveil RP3, depending on weather.

at 5"10 and #155 patagonia is slim but long arms, maybe that in a XL or XXL?

Look into the snowboarder gear, all their stuff is cut extra generously.

I don't know what to say but stay away from 686, Orage. Arms are way short. Sessions might be good. I tried on some super baggy technine gear that left me (6'4" 205lbs) swimming. I seem to remember some of the Oakley gear had longish arms

Not "high-end*, but Columbia jackets seem to be fuller cut than many as does LL Bean.

Funny you said that. Seems like every Columbia jacket I've tried on even a 3 and 4 x has short sleeves and no shoulders???????

Thanks for all the advice, now I just need to find a shop that still has some of these on the shelves in this 90 degree summer!!

I am 6'2" and 250. I wear a 52"L jacket and a 40" waist. Last year I bought a Decsent Spain WC jacket (XXL)and it has plenty of sleve length. I am confortable with a mid weight fleece under it but any more and my shoulders and chest start getting snug.

I wouldn't rule out Arc'teryx even though people say they are "athletic cut". I'm 6'1" and 190 and wear a Medium Arc shell. I wear a 35" sleve dress shirt and the Medium Arc sleeve is a perfect fit. I'd think that an XL or XXL Arc shell would fit you fine.

I'm 6' even and 235 lbs. A XL Northface fits with room to spare in all directions.

I think your arm length will end up being the hardest to fit. Depending on which side of 37" you fall, you will either need an XL or XXL to fit them. I'm partial to Marmot, and have always liked their products. Same thing (but to a lesser extent) for Mountain Hardwear. Neither seems as close-cut as some of the other brands (e.g., Arc'Teryx).

Depending on what you are looking for, you may want to pursue is BeyondClothing.com. They will custom make various softshells and even a 2-ply Gore-Tex jacket to your body specifications. I don't have any direct experience, but have seen reviews where folks were reasonably happy with the end product.

6'1", 220 lbs. here. My Marmot jacket fits perfectly, though my arms may not be your equal.
