Police and Biking

I'm not sure if this belongs in Biking or Politica and Hot Topics. It appears that biking has become some major crime in Atlanta. You'd think the police would have more pressing issues there as well as anywhere.

Atlanta Police stalk Critical Mass

Nothing new there. Critical Mass can vary from failrly weel-behaved to civil disobedience. What do they expect.

I'm more concerned about stuff like this - http://www.velonews.com/article/7747...lking-in-dodge

Here in DC, there's a 15mph speed limit being put on one of the more heavily used trails. If they are going to ticket "speeding" bikes, then maybe pedestrians who don't observe trail etiquette should be ticketed as well. I've had at least one incident of someone trying to clothesline me after I gave warning.

Critical Mass-ers can get bent. They accomplish NOTHING to forward the cause of cycling. It's turned into nothing short of a hooligan event. They're disruptive, discourteous, and disrespectful. They think they're exempt from traffic laws but SCREAM to be treated as traffic. Just another offshoot of some tired hippie civil disobedience BS. Meh. Who cares. They've proven nothing, and make life worse for everyone around them.
