Heck, I'll kick in half a supporter dues if someone else kicks in the other 10 bucks. Is there an easy way for us to get a paypal link to do that mods? Then, we can get Chuck a key to "The Lounge" too

Sure, just pay through the user CP and include a note in the paypal blank that its a supporter donation for "Chuck". Trekchick does the supporter stuff, I'll alert her.

I'm not seeing the interface I saw when I joined. In the past there were different giving level options that said "generous", "very generous", etc. Now there are just two options $20.00 for supporters. I tried to just go in and subscribe but paypal gets pre-populated for an order total of $20.00

To pay for your subscription, please click the order button next to your preferred payment method and follow the instructions on the following page.
Subscription:SupporterDuration:1 Year *Cost:US$20.00

How did we do it last time we had a fundraiser?
I thought there used to be a "donate" option. I don't see it anymore

IF you go to the donations tab at the top of the page,
there is a paypal link that gives you the option to donate different denominations.
I'll kick in the other half.

Winter Equinox

Wow! Thanks to all for your interest and support. I didn't know about any of this until I received a message from Epic Ski today.

I first posted a message about Winter Equinox a year or two ago. Life moves on, and I didn't follow up until a few weeks ago when I made some DVDs and sent them to people who showed an interest in it. Since then I've been very pleased to hear that many of you like our little film.

A few people have mentioned that they'd like to see a higher quality version. The DVDs were made from an S-VHS tape that was several video generations removed from a well-worn and faded 35mm print. And the image had been cropped twice from the 1974 16mm original, once vertically to make it fit theater screens and again, horizontally, to fit TV screens. The end result is that the DVD is grainy and shows only the center portion of the original 16mm frame.

Bill Burks, the producer / director / narrator has a 16mm print, and the music producer has the stereo master music mix. So we have the elements we need to do a new edit that will look like WE did in 1976 and sound better. I'll keep those of you who are interested up to date on any WE developments.

Thanks again to all.

Chuck, have you considered putting the lower res version up on the web? Like these guys did?

http://revver.com/video/310519/a-dozen-more-turns/

Just a thought that saves you from sending out DVDs and gets a much bigger viewership.

Winter Equinox

Max,

Thanks for your suggestion. I sent a few DVDs out to get reactions from enthusiasts. So far they've been positive. Before we think about going into any kind of distribution...DVDs or the internet...we have to address some legal issues re: rights, etc. That's why I've asked everyone to whom I sent DVDs not to copy them or put it or any part of Winter Equinox on the internet.

WE is unique in that it is 1) a record of an era in freestyle that is gone, never to return, and 2) a document of 4 peoples' experiences during the height of that era. WE had limited release and exposure in 1976 and was seen on TV (in a sanitized version) a few times in the late 70s.

Bill Burks and I would like to put it out there again, but at this time we haven't decided how. Thanks for you interest. I will try to do a better job keeping you and others who are interested informed of any developments.

Chuck,
I look forward to seeing it myself. Thanks for the opportunity.

Trekchick

I ran out week or so ago and am making another batch of DVDs for you and some others who've requested copies. Life and little things like work come first. I'll let you know when it hits the mail.

Bill Burks and I are grateful for the interest people like you and others who have contacted me, who got this thread started, and started the review thread, have in WE. It's a cool little movie. We are looking into what it would take to clean it up using a better print and re-recording the music in stereo.

I think there is very small percentage of the population that would have interest in and enjoy a film like this. But in the US, a very small percentage can still be quite a few people. We hope we can come up with a way of getting it out there so people can see it the way we want it seen. Your comments and the encouragement of people to whom I've sent copies help a bunch.

Sorry, that's my shill for the day.
Did you recently drop the number for registered users from 30 to 25? I have been on the road and had 27 (90% I thought) only to see that I was at 100% 2 over the 25 max?
I thought its always been 25 since I joined in 2005.

I could be wrong. I have been once or twice.
