Breckenridge Lodging Suggestions!

Thread Starter
Im taking a group of friends up to Breckenridge in January for 4 nights. There will be a total of 10 of us, most of them have never ski'ed before. I want to show them a good time. Their ski experience is much more important than their nightlife experience.

We are looking for a lodge that is within walking distance to the lifts, say maybe 100-300 yards. We are looking something decent with a reasonable price. We would all like to stay in the same condo. So most likely we are going to have to get a 3-4 bedroom condo and cram in there for sleeping quarters.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Closest and probably most expensive are the lodging choices in the village area at the base of Peak Nine.

Marriott Mountain Valley Lodge is just across a small stream from the base of Peak Nine. There's a bridge right outside the back door used by Marriott and a bunch of neighboring condo properties to get to the base of Peak Nine.

We stayed up the street from the Marriott and walked down to the path leading to the bridge. Between five and ten minutes to make the walk.

Go to http://breckenridge.snow.com/info/winter/twn.maps.asp , click on town map and you can highlight individual properties. A lot of them are in the VRBO (vacation rentals by owner) www.vrbo.com program. We stayed in the Motherlode. Don't know that it would have a condo to accommodate 10.

I have booked through www.skicountry.com multiple times over the last few years. I have rented everything from a two bedroom condo to a 6 bedroom house (for my 40th birthday!).

Also, check out www.vrbo.com. These are vacation homes/condos that the owners rent out instead of using a management company.

Also note that there is totally free bus transportation throughout Breckenridge via Breckenridge Free Ride, and throughout all of Summit County including to and from Breck and all the other towns and resorts, via the Summit Stage.

Look into motels, lodges, etc. in Frisco (about 30 min ride to Breck and 15 to Copper) as a cheaper alternative to being right in the middle of Breck.

Lots of people stay a ways off from the lifts or even out of the town itself, and ride the Stage, if they're looking for cheap. The Stage and the Free Ride both drop you off directly at the BreckConnect Gondola to the Peak 8 base. The Free Ride also goes to Peak 9 (both Village and Beaver Run bases) and to Peak 8.

We stayed at the Grand Timber Lodge in April 2007. We stayed in a 1BR condo but they have 3BR that sleep 10. Ski in and ski out and very nice.
