Summer Skiing

On our way to Davenport Sunday we came across some ripening corn,

so John & I decided to head here

and enjoy the harvest. A cool breeze kept the corn good from 11-noon on S-SE aspects and an hour later on SW.

NW made for a nice exit at 2.

Cardiff 6/3/01

I went for a walk up Cardiff last Tuesday,

wanting to check out converage before the storm. Smooth and supportable on N @ 10k just after noon,

also NW slightly lower.

Superior,

Alta,

& Snowbird all have good coverage.

Fortunately I had the thin-is-in no-wax no-problem energy efficient skis, so I decided to do a couple of extra runs till the rain came.

Friday the 13th

Nothing too special this weekend, nursing a sore knee has kept things conservative. Figured I saved enough gas throughout the season, so I splurged and spent friday afternoon here leaving the longer approaches for later in the summer.

I enjoyed the view of the Green Valley

while skiing a variety of N aspects, all good all afternoon 'till the 6:00 exit.

Around 4:20 I lamented not bringing along any treats for the ride home. Must've been ESP or just some good Fri. the 13th karma, as minutes later a shiny object appeared poking through the snow

Nice n' cold but not frozen "Old School Brew" just right for this old guy.

S aspects getting a bit thin

but still holding enough snow to reach Silver on Saturday.

Found a digital camera in East Greeley with some pics of a guy on reverse cambered twin tip skis losing his high notch virginity. Must hold some sentimental value, if you know the owner send a pm.

Great reports, tele mark.

Summer skiing is so much fun. It offers all the aerobic and scenic benefits of hiking with that oh-so-nice reward of skiing on the way down.

Nice stuff.

After surviving the frozen burial I figured I couldn't let it die a slow death due to heat exhaustion.:
