Snowing In D.C.

"So.... This strange white stuff is falling from the sky here in Washington DC, get the kids inside we don't know what the hell this is but it can't be healthy!!!!".

That's pretty much the headline here this morning in the nations capital. I've never seen a city shut down so fast. I mean if you want to interrupt the federal government all you need to do is seed the clouds in Virginia. For me this suggests two things.

1) leave work, find a hill, build a kicker. I'll be doing switch 540's by 3:00 pm. I've never done a switch 540 but I think todays the day.

2) Move to Utah where this happens 8 months a year.

Cheers

Isn't it coool!! Since I walk to work, I'm here at the office, but the family is at home, getting ready to go play in the snow at the park. I might have to leave to join them. You know, it's a "family values" thing...

yeah. I'm one of these lucky dozen or so that has a five minute commute. I tell ya it was the best one yet. No one on the roads, doing controlled slides around corners, good times. I grew up in Maine so this is a bunt. Hopefuly your kids were not allready on their way to school before the super for DC public schools finally decided to close them.

Enjoy.

For some strange reason your snow storm was all over the news here in Denver. I guess to remind us that in can snow. Have fun with it!

Here's a statistic... It's the first measurable snow in the 1st week of Dec. we've seen in 13 years. Yipeee!!! Liberty opens tomorrow with the best opening day conditions we've seen in years... I think they're saving a couple of trails for the weekend though.

Yay! I can't work in rain or snow, so we knocked off @ 9 AM.
I'm goin down to the golf course whwre everyone rides sleds and giving my nephew a little impromptu lesson. By the time school lets out, we should have about 5" of fresh. Then off to Breck tomorrow! Life is good.

Since I have drive my kid to school, and all the other districts closed, I knew that, eventually, DC would either get with the program, or announce, an hour after I dropped her off, that the schools would close early, so I let her stay home and play in the snow instead. THAT is an excusable absence!

Hope all the area's skiers are able to put in some quality runs this week-end.

Here is the kicker... It can't decide whether to snow or sleet/freezing rain. So, tonight when the temp dips into the twenties all this wet slush that's on the roads becomes....you guessed it sports fans, ICE. This simply means that everyone will wake up tomorrow and it won't be snowing but the drive will be exponentially worse than it was today. And the reason for this is not only because of the weather, it's also becuase there are about two dozen snow plows spread between DC and Northern Virgina. If we were on the news for snow today, I can't wait to see the headlines tomorrow.

BadRat, Sno'more, Ryel, time you's started worrying. Y'all may be doing the nekkid snowdance in the Bridgeport Brew Pub on the 9th, lessen we get some snow here.

But it's okay, 'cause if anyone kicks it, Al Haig's STILL ready for his at-bat.

Dirty little secret about Utah is that there are often long dry spells esp. during the first part of the season.

Its funny how the District handles snow situations. Every other county in Md and Vir had already closed the night before. DC makes you walk over to school only to find it closed. Thats alright, my daughter and I got our first turns in behind the school. The season is officially open. Just need the local areas to open more terrain now.

My crystal ball says the weather pattern is going to change in the next week or so and Utah will get dumped on by Christmas.

20 days till Utah

Hi All,
Newbie joining the group who is very excited about the snow in DC. After just getting back from a few days at Okemo, VT (best Thanksgiving terrain I have ever seen), I am excited about starting the season at Liberty tomorrow with their best opening. I hope this is a precursor for a great season.
