Is there any Skitouring manual available in PDF and free for download? I'm looking for something like http://www.ssacaibz.it/Pagine/TecMat...iAlpinismo.pdf but preferably in english or german. Thanks

Looking for the same. In addition, is there any particular book/website that you'd recommend?

Allen & Mike's Really Cool BC ski book is great for tips on BC touring and camping.
A more advanced book is Martin Volken's "Backcountry Skiing: Skills for ski touring and ski mountaineering"
My favorite Avalance book is Bruce Tremper "Staying Alive in Avalanche Terrain"
Put down a little cash and read these books, it will help in more ways than you can imagine.

Dave/Richard or Lee, would BC skills for .......................by Volken, Schell and Wheeler be a good START book of me ? Just looked at table of content and looked good for a newbie, whatcha think?

Hope to see ya opening day at Lookout. Dave can meet you at Exit 34 and ride up together if you want. Ditto Richard.

^ Yep, excellent. The only better thing would be having a good mentor.

Pete already told you I,ll take ya out a couple times I always dig at least one pit out east ridge in Dec-early Jan depending on snow totals figured i could drag you out there and we can ski down or traverse back to the lifts conditions dependent.

Can't say about that book not one I've read though my avy book is where it gets looked at every day for a couple minutes.
