Tommy Moe says hello

I talked to Tommy this afternoon and told him to come to the epicski forum, I gave him the URL and he promised to check in.

He was supposed to give a race clinic but ended up just signing posters because of lack of an audience, he is a real nice guy, easy to talk to.

Here is a picture, I'm twice as wide as he is , also more than twice as old

Ott,
What's it like to meet a great man?
(That's what I'd ask Tommy after that photo was taken)

But where was the photo taken?

The photo was taken in front of the lodge at Boston Mill, Ohio, ski area. It was/is 'open house' weekend.

Having covered kings and paupers as a photojournalist, I'm not easily impressed by greatness, but I was impressed by Tommy's friendliness and easygoing manner, a really nice guy. I didn't ask him what he thought of meeting me

Jeannie Thoren was there giving womens clinics, crazy Brad Holmes for the freestylers, Jeremy Jones for the snowboarders and Mike Wagner to tell how he tunes skis and snowboards for the Olympians.

I agree. Celebrity status does nothing for me, but a nice person will get my attention every time.

Hey Ott,

I met Tommy on Friday night. What an easy going and affable guy. We were hanging out with the Dynastar rep talking equipment. We also talked about the ESA and the Bears coming to Jackson. He has got me stoked for Jackson and he was trying to convince Mrs. PowDigger to make the pilgrimage. So, Tommy if you have checked in I was my pleasure to meet you.

Wow, that photo brings back some memories. I learned to ski at BM and spent lots of time there in High School and College on the Kent State race team.

I need to get back there on one of my trips back to Ohio.

He just got married (to Megan Gerety) this summer, so that may be a side effect of marriage. Probably two of the nicest people I've ever met.

You both look good! Looks like Boston Mills could use a little snow.

In advance of your arrival, Welcome to EpicSki, Tommy! Hope you can find some time to play with us.

Best regards,

Thanks Pow, will do. See you there or here for the Allegheny gathering, which ever comes first.

It'd be great to have Tommy on the Epic board.

I was staying at Alyeska the weekend he got married this August. The wedding reception at Alyeska Prince got pretty wild.

I met no one of importance on Friday.

But I did walk by Meadow Soprano on my way home from the office.
