Anyone flew with Continental LATELY???

That is, with the new limitation of one peice of checked baggage?

According to their web site,
Quote:
"An item of ski equipment consists of:
up to 2 pair of snow skis and associated equipment in 1 bag and 1 ski boot bag. "
But I wonder if anyone flown on them lately that managed to check a ski bag AND A BOOT BAG without being charged?

I can squeeze my stuff into the ski bag and the rest into my carry on. But that makes for a rather un-yieldingly big ski bag. So if people are having good enough luck with ski bag + boot bag without being charge, I'd prefer to go that route...

Per previous threads discussing this, I'd carry on my boot bag! Don't want to let the monkey-fisted baggage handlers lose those thingies!

If the website says that is one piece of luggage than print it out (preferably with the date that you printed it from their website) and make sure you take it with you.

Most airlines that I have traveled do consider one boot bag and one ski bag together as one piece of luggage. Problem: Some of them say that it may ONLY contain said skis and boots (NOTHING else in the boot bag but boots). Also, combined weight of no more than 50 pounds. :

You may also want to call and get someone to fax you something about what the actual rules are so you can have that handy as well.

Good luck!

We came back from Colorado Springs/ Phoenix the other day and Alaskan is definitely reducing their baggage limit to one checked bag at 50lbs from 01 Jul 08. I think it is a way for the carriers to recoup some fuel costs by charging $25 per bag for the additional items we seem to see most Americans cannot travel without.

Mostly they were pretty hot on the 50lb limit for an item. Nothing wong with a quick repack at check in if no one else is waiting. BTW a pair of jeans weighs 2 lbs if you are trying to move a few pounds any time soon.

buy a transpack and don't check your boots. Why would you ever want to risk loosing them?
