In my Nordica Grand Prix RT Pro (yellow green purple nordiform liner not exopowers) my canting angle was 1.5 and 2 OK, FOR FUN, PUT YOUR FOOT IN THE NORDICA W/O YOUR CUSTOM BED (CHECK YOUR CANTING) MY GUESS IS (OUT ON A LIMB HERE) THE BUNION IS ON THE RIGHT FOOT....FROM DESCRIPTIONS....IS IT? IF SO, THE LEFT LEG HAS THE SLIGHT CURVATURE ....LEFT CENTER KNEE MASS POSITIONED SLIGHTLY OUTWARD...DROPPING AROUND THE REGION OF TH3E SECOND AND THIRD TOE. AND THE RIGHT CENTER KNEE MASS IS POSITIONED SLIGHHTLY INWARD FROM THE GREAT TOE...(YOU MIGHT NOT SEE THE RIGHT ) HOW WAS YOUR CANTING CHECKED...A GOOD FITTER WILL BE WITHIN A HALF DEGREE W/O ANY TOOLS AT ALL (BEFORE FOOTBED) degrees to the inside. Using the same foot bed in the Head boots I need 2.5 and 3. Unless there is another overriding variable there, a component of the cant angle is the original boot design.YES, THE HEAD WC CUFF IS DESIGNED TO BRING YOU OUT. THE THEORY IS FOR MORE LEVERAGE. THIS IS OLD SCHOOL RACE ROOM THINKING.
Explain the overcompensation and the terms varus and valgus. THE FITTER AND HIS SEMI WEIGHTED PILLOW MOLD, POSITIONED YOUR FOOT TO THE BACK JACKED THE TRANSVERSE ARCH INTO NEXT WEEK...(VARUS) THIS WOULD BE FINE IF YOU HAD A RARE RIGID PLANUS STRUCTURE...YOU DONT....It kind of makes sense because the bootfitter held my ankle to neutralize a joint (possibly subtalar)VERY GENERIC while making my footbeds.
The evaluation sheet from a different bootfitter I saw last year, says forefoot valgus, right and left. VALGUS? BOTH SIDES? NEVER!
No heel spurs. The bunion is fairly small, but it is there. The boots have be altered to fit it. The nordicas were stretched,FINE, HOW WAS THE BOOT MARKED FOR STRETCH? the heads ground. BAD MOVE ON THE HEADS....NEVER LET A FITTER GRIND A FIRST MET HEAD POCKET! GRAB YOUR BOOTS AND LEAVE!
What would be the best type of footbed? HINT: NOT UNWEIGHTED CORK, NOT A SEMI WEGHTED PILLOW AND DONT EVER CONSIDER A UNWEIGHTED CAST FOR RIGID INTERFACE! I AM NOT GOING TO PLAY FAVORITES...YOU WILL KNOW WHEN YOU GET IT RIGHT...FOR SURE YOUR FIT WONT INVOLVE SO MUCH CANTING!I also have had cork superfeet beds made, but I didn't have any toe room with them and the arch in the foot bed was shorter than the arch in my foot. EXACTLY...AS DESCRIBED ABOVE... THE SYSTEM JACKS CORK IN ONE OF YOUR FOOTS MULTIPLE ARCHES...GIVING THE FOOT FALSE SUPINATION...WHEN WEIGHTED YOUR ARCH AND STRUCTURE IS POSITIONED BACK. THROW THEM AWAY!So I have never really used them.
Dorsiflexion has been checked as OK. But on the tight side. PUT YOUR FOOT ON YOUR OVER COMPENSATED BED (ON A HARD FLOOR) HOW FAR CAN YOU FLEX BEFORE YOU FEEL YOUR HEEL START TO EVERT AND LIFT....? Especially the right ankle which was broken on the interior side. EXPLAIN MORE ....TENDON OR TIBIA? BREAK...FRACTURE?
This is a simple case of why boot fitters offer so many diferent options for customers. The Nordica Grand Prix has a steeper internal ramp angle BTW >>>WAS THERE ANY ADJUSTMENT MADE TO YOUR NORDICA BOOT BOARD? and more fore ward lean than the Head . Regardless of footbed ,I HAVE TO DISAGREE... THERE ARE TOO MANY VARIABLES TO CONSIDER WHEN CONSIDERING THE FOOTBED TO BOOTBOARD INTERFACE, FROM THE MIDSOLE IN SHOE DESIGN TO SKIBOOTS ...and all of the technical biomechanics hochus pockus,I AGREE THAT SOME PEOPLE KNOW JUST ENOUGH ABOUT BIOMECHANICS TO MAKE THEM DANGEROUS...THEREFORE THEY HIDE BEHIND THIS LIMITED KNOWLEDGE AND USE IT AS WITCHCRAFT... UNFORTUNATLY MANY PEOPLE GET DEFENSIVE ABOUT THERE ART, THEY MAY BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE ALWAYS RIGHT, THIS BECOMES A PROBLEM FOR THE SKIER WHO JUST WANTS TO BE COMFORTABLE AND HAVE FUN.
THIS IS WHY THERE IS A STRONG NEED FOR TECHNOLOGY TO REPLACE ALL THE GURU'S IN THEIR OWN MINDS...THE TECHNOLOGY EXISTS NOW, (JUST NOT AVAILABLE YET) I WOULD SAY THAT MOST OF THESE SIMPLE SKIER ISSUES WILL END BY 2006. MOST STORES WILL BE ABLE TO PROVIDE THE PRODUCT AND SERVICE TO FIT THE SCIENCE. the Nordica will create more interanl rotation. I DISAGREE, THE BOOT WILL NOT CREATE INTERNAL ROTATION, INTERNAL ROTATION COMES FROM MANY FACTORS THAT MAY BE ENHANCED FROM A PARTICULAR BOOTS CHARACTORISTICS,. Also the flare of the Nordica is the most neutral of any boots and the Head is only mildly out flared . AS STATED ABOVE, I AGREE THE CUFF IS POSITIONED OUTWARD. The more upright the boot spine and flatter the ramp angle the more the leg will tend to externally rotate and the potential for more cant work with the same footbed. THIS IS COMMON KNOWLEDGE, BUT VERY GENERIC...TOO MANY OTHER VARIABLES TO CONSIDER. HOPEFULLY YOUR NEW FITTER CAN FIGURE OUT THE VARIABLES NEEDED TO CUSTOMISE THE LIMITED SKI BOOT TO MEET YOUR MULTIPLE NEEDS.
***REMEMBER, ANYONE WORKING TO HELP YOU CARES...IN MOST CASES IT IS NO ONES FAULT...IF GOOD BOOTFITTING INVOLVED 95% OF THE SHOPS INSTEAD OF 5%, WE COULD ALL HAVE MORE FUN ON THE HILL AND WILL!
