MikeC, Thanks for the reply. If a brand new pair of RX8s is only going to set me back at most $150, to me it's just a way to freshen the skis. I've got a lot of time on the current boards and they are 66 underfoot. I think the widened them underfoot just a bit for the 08'/09' version and even if they did not it's worth getting brand new ski is, especially the RX8s at that price (Yes, I paid for the ones I have but I am looking at this as upkeep.).
I have read comparisons that state the RX8 tends to skid more through turns in comparison to the Progressor 8+. I have not really noticed that and have just enjoyed how lively the RX8 is. It is also a pretty soft ski and forgiving. I ski mostly blacks, but due to a bad back stick mostly to double fall line skiing. I will ski moguls if they are large and soft like out West, otherwise they are trouble waiting to wreck havoc with my back (blown disk at L4-L5).
The Progressor 8+ although I have not skied it is wider underfoot which I would think would be better in light crud than the RX8. I also find the technology of the tighter radius at the tips versus the tails intriguing.
I have until February to use my trade in, and perhaps at that time the Progressor 8+ will have a lower price point and perhaps I will have a chance to ski it. Or I can stimulate the economy and buy them now taking a chance that I will not like them. Tough call, thus my post.
Any additional feedback would be welcomed, even if you tell me to save my money and wait.
