Catedral closed after it rained to the top. We are now in a holding pattern until it snows more. Forecast looking promising for the next few days. Stay tuned!

Excellent powder day today. The upper half of the mountain is looking much better. Still thin down low, but good up high.

No more La Nina. MAY/JUN reading was +0.050, about as neutral as can be.

Base depth numbers still loook skimpy in the southern areas. They had a banner year in 2007, but for this year I'd recommend Portillo or Las Lenas. Or Valle Nevado group if you're mostly intermediates.

Tony, Would the trend continue toward neutral or slight bias toward El Nino for the remainder of the year? Looks like Bariloche is finally getting some snow and the 6 day forecasts looks like cooler temps than earlier in July. Hope it continues.

The last few days have been pretty chilly in the alpine!

Not quite. Week after next to Valle Nevado/El Colorado.

Unfortunately Bariloche looks very bad this winter, until now. Several closed pistes and just few ones open at the top of the mountain.

Wish August/September cam become a little better

I am going next week, it looks like it may snow friday night as well (if you have any faith in snow-forecast.com)

Valle Nevado

Just got back today, great skiing at Valle Nevado, Colorado, and La Parva. Every time we tried to get to Portillo the road was closed, clearly an advantage to staying at the ski area.

If you go to Portillo ski a run or 10 for me. :

wunderground.com is forecasting 90% chance of rain in Santiago for Saturday, which is a bummer since I arrive in the a.m. Just hope heavy snow Saturday doesn't mean Sat. night in a Santiago hotel.

I am sure something like that will happen during my visit, murphy's law right? At least I speak spanish so I can fend for myself. From the weather forecast it looks more like a chance of light rain than a big storm.

Lots of weather forecasted for the Bariloche area for the next week!

Hello!

Don't ask me why, but it happens again. Instead of many forecast for good conditions late July, early Aug. I think the best in season came out late Aug. early Sept.

A hypothesis should be we are facing some kind of change on the weather where the calendar seasons are out of synchronism with Mother nature!!

Take a look at North winter this year!

Cheers
